We are seeking an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Worker (AIEW) Assistant to support both our students and staff in developing a school culture that fosters the education and retention of Aboriginal and Islander students. The assistant will play a key role in building strong relationships with students, providing classroom support, and working closely with families to create an inclusive, respectful learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Building Relationships with Students:
   Establish and maintain positive, trusting relationships with students, providing emotional and social support while promoting their academic success and wellbeing.
2. Classroom Support:
   Assist teachers in adapting lessons and materials to be culturally relevant, providing academic support to students and ensuring an inclusive classroom environment.
3. Building Relationships with Families:
   Foster strong communication between the school and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, keeping them informed and involved in their child’s education and progress.

The successful candidate must demonstrate:

- Reliability, cultural understanding, and the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

- Initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Hours are negotiable.
