Junior Network Engineer

We are seeking a keen and enthusiastic Junior Network Engineer to join the team for a temporary contract.

The Towards 2025 Strategy commits our system of schools to being at least as good as the very best, to maximise the learning growth of every student, and to inspire hearts and minds to know Christ and love learning. </p><p>Covering an expansive geographical area which includes the Central Coast, Sydney’s Northern Beaches and North Shore, Catholic Schools Broken Bay is a system serving 44 Catholic Schools with around 17,000 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. </p><p> </p><p><strong>The Role </strong> </p><p>We are seeking a Junior Network Engineer to provide support for LAN, WLAN, WAN and Data Centre networking services within CSBB, as well as supporting project work to design and implementation. </p><p>This role, under the guidance of the Senior Network Engineer, will provide level 2 support to Catholic Schools Broken Bay’s Local Area Networks (LAN), Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) and Wider Area Networks (WAN). Technologies managed and supported in this role include Cisco Switching, Cisco Routing, Aruba Switching, Aruba Instant Access Points, Aruba Airwave, Aruba ClearPass, Zscaler and Palo Alto firewalls.</p><p>This role will be based at the central office in Pennant Hills, with expectations to travel to various schools across our Diocese.</p><p>This is a <strong>temporary, full time </strong>position, for an <strong>immediate start </strong>until <strong>28th April 2025. </strong></p><p><strong>Under guidance & leadership of the Senior Network Engineer, the key duties are:</strong></p><ul><li>Perform remote and onsite LAN, WLAN, WAN and Data Centre troubleshooting and installations</li><li>Monitor and maintenance LAN and WLAN authentication </li><li>Assist with applying LAN and WLAN configuration changes</li><li>Monitor and report on the health of the LAN, WLAN, WAN and Data Centre systems</li><li>Escalate support issues to Senior Digital Infrastructure Team members and/or third-party support teams as required</li><li>Ensure networking documentation is maintained and up to date</li><li>Assist the Senior Network Engineers with updating and maintaining network component firmware and software</li><li>Provide assistance and support to the broader Digital Infrastructure team</li></ul><p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong> </p><p>As the ideal candidate you will be supportive of the Catholic ethos and have: </p><ul><li>1+ years technical support experience or similar role</li><li>Understanding of WiFi technology </li><li>Familiarity with Home Networking </li><li>Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of Business Process Mapping</li><li>Keen learner with enthusiasm </li><li>Have a solutions-focused mindset</li><li>Demonstrate initiative & can follow instruction </li><li>Has intermediate knowledge and skill in the Microsoft suite of products</li><li>Has a keen eye for detail to deliver consistently accurate and informed written and verbal communications suitable for the receiving audience</li><li>Works with the customer in mind to serve their needs and requirements </li><li>Can manage competing priorities and the sensitivities of others to deliver high quality work </li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Valid Working with Children's Check <i>(or willing to obtain)</i></li><li>Certificate IV in Information Technology <i>(desirable)</i></li><li>Current Drivers Licence <i>(and own car required) </i></li></ul><p><strong>Benefits of Working with Us </strong> </p><ul><li>Fantastic opportunity to learn & kick start your career in IT!</li><li>You will be working with a highly experienced & supportive team</li><li>Free onsite parking or public transport nearby'</li><li>Competitive salary on offer </li><li>Salary packaging for eligible employees </li></ul><p><strong>Application Process </strong> </p><p>Applications should include: </p><ul><li>A cover letter of no more than two pages addressing why you are interested in the role and addressing each of the key requirements listed above; and </li><li>A current resume</li></ul><p>Email directly to <a href="mailto:brigette.strain@dbb.catholic.edu.au" rel="nofollow">brigette.strain@dbb.catholic.edu.au</a></p><p><strong>Agencies, please note that unsolicited resumes for this position will not be considered. </strong> </p><p><i>Catholic Schools Broken Bay promotes a culture of safety and care for children and young people.
