Catholic Education has a network of 18 Catholic schools in the Northern Territory - five colleges, seven primary schools, one flexible learning centre and five remote schools.</p><p><strong>&#x1f511; Your Role:</strong> </p><p>This role is responsible for the provision of information and support to schools, families and other agencies to enable students with communication impairment to participate in appropriate educational programs in a range of school and community settings according to the Students with Disabilities Policy. </p><p>This position is based at the Catholic Education Office in Berrimah, NT.</p><p><strong>The Team</strong></p><p>Inclusion Support Services team is a multi-disciplinary team of Clinicians (Psychologist, Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists) and Inclusion Support Services Advisors who support the schools, teachers and students with Inclusion needs,</p><p><strong>&#x1f4bc;  Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Undertake speech pathology assessments, maintain accurate data and records for students, and complete required paperwork for disability funding; </li><li>Develop and maintain and skills and expertise in assessment and resource provision for students in the Northern Territory, including culturally appropriate service provision for Aboriginal and Islander students, and students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds.</li><li>Identify, profile and refer students with a wide range of speech, language, and communication needs; (Otitis media and ear health issues are screened by the teacher and referred to ear and hearing services.)</li><li>Provides consultative, collaborative and clinical support to schools and assist schools in the development of Education Adjustment Plans (EAPs)</li><li>Liaise with schools, agencies and the wider community to promote inclusion and evidence based interventions for students with communication impairment.</li><li>Responsible for the input of speech pathology strategies (for EAPs) in the INSPIRE.</li><li>Full details are outlined in the position description.</li></ul><p><strong>&#x1f331;What we’re looking for:</strong></p><ul><li>A degree in speech pathology from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent; </li><li>knowledge of the current Australian Government and NT Catholic Education NT policies, including those relating to the Disability Discrimination Act and an understanding of the education of students with special needs </li><li>Proven capacity to work effectively with students with disabilities and their families </li><li>Active membership of relevant professional associations and bodies</li><li>Experience in speech pathology assessment of school age children</li><li>Capacity to work effectively with Aboriginal students and their families</li></ul><p><strong>&#x1f4a1;What we offer:</strong></p><ul><li>Competitive Salary</li><li>Relocation Assistance up to $2,500</li><li>Excellent Work Life Balance – Working hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM</li><li>Funded Professional Development</li><li>Employee Assistance Program</li></ul><p><strong>salary is commensurate with experience.</strong></p><p>This position involves working with children.
