<p>We are seeking a School Counsellor to commence at the beginning of 2025. Ideally the successful applicant will be employed to work for 4 days per week during school terms. However, applicants interested in an alternative employment arrangement are very welcome to apply. Christians who are actively involved in a church are particularly encouraged to apply.</p><p> </p><p><strong>About Us</strong></p><p>Rouse Hill Anglican College (RHAC) is a growing and highly regarded independent co-educational Christian school with over 1,600 students from Pre-K to Year 12. Located in the Hills District in Sydney’s northwest, the College has modern facilities, is very well resourced and can be easily accessed by car or the Metro Northwest rail.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Provide counselling for individual students which supports the work of specialist student wellbeing and learning support teachers.</li><li>Receive direct referrals to counsel students who present with a range of social, emotional and psychological needs such as anxiety, sadness, self-confidence and relationship difficulties.</li><li>Collaborate with members of the student well-being team, under the direction of the Head of Senior School, in relation to student welfare issues.</li><li>Under the guidance and direction of the Head of Senior School, speak to parents about the needs of their children.</li><li>Be a part of the RHAC critical incident management team.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Key Attributes</strong></p><ul><li>Relevant qualifications and experience.</li><li>A strong understanding of the importance of privacy, confidentiality and professional boundaries, including knowing how and when to share information with others.</li><li>A clear understanding of, and an ability to practically apply, the NSW Child Safe <a href="https://ocg.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-12/g_CSS_GuidetotheStandards.pdf" rel="nofollow">Standards</a> - including mandatory reporting and associated RHAC policies and procedures.</li><li>Able to listen calmly, carefully and respond professionally in a counselling environment.</li><li>Able and committed to working collaboratively and communicating effectively with all stakeholders.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>The Contract</strong></p><p>All teachers at RHAC are employed under the applicable NSW Independent Schools Multi Enterprise Agreement for (MEA) for school employees who are not teachers. The MEA outlines the pay scales for school counsellors, as well as other employment rights and responsibilities. </p><p> </p><p><strong>Child Safety</strong></p><p>The College actively promotes the safety and wellbeing of all students and requires all prospective staff to be suitable and committed to protecting students from harm in the school environment. The College implements the <a href="https://ocg.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-12/g_CSS_GuidetotheStandards.pdf?Embed=Y" rel="nofollow">Child Safe Standards</a><u> </u>developed by the Office of the Children’s Guardian.
