<p>St Mary’s School in Geelong is seeking a highly skilled, motivated and passionate educator to fulfil the role of Deputy Principal – Learning &amp; Teaching. The Deputy Principal role is a two-year fixed term position. The successful applicant will have an ongoing teaching role at St Mary’s School. Whilst this appointment has an initial leadership position of Learning &amp; Teaching, all positions of leadership at St Mary&#39;s School will be vacated and available for 2026-2027.</p><p><strong>Due to the timing of this appointment, the successful candidate&#39;s start date is to be negotiated with relevant stakeholders. </strong></p><p>St Mary’s School has an embedded evidence-informed, explicit instruction approach that is delivered within a coherent, knowledge-rich learning and teaching program. </p><p><strong>The successful applicant will be:</strong></p><ul><li>a calm and collaborative school leader who has the capacity to nurture the strong community bond between staff, students and families</li><li>knowledgeable, aligned and experienced in implementing the MACS Vision for Instruction Position Statement</li><li>able to deliver and support aligned, high quality, evidence-informed learning and teaching practices from Foundation to Year 6</li><li>an approachable, visible and collaborative leader who demonstrates understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of staff, students and their families</li><li>a leader who is aspiring to principalship, seeking to be mentored by the current principal and willing to undertake professional learning to prepare for principalship</li></ul><p><strong>The successful applicant will have:</strong></p><ul><li>evidence of leading and modelling instructional leadership through exemplary curriculum knowledge</li><li>an ability to build the capacity and cultivate the performance of individuals and teams</li><li>a deep understanding and passion for improving student outcomes</li><li>strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain partnerships and enhance the welcoming atmosphere of the school and parish</li><li>exceptional organisation and experience to support leading and managing the school</li><li>leadership skills and experience to the capacity to build strong links and maintain trust and credibility with the wider school community</li><li>communication and interpersonal skills with the aptitude to build and nurture relationships and engage staff, students and their families</li><li>have the ability to foster a culture of respect, collaboration, and high expectations across the school </li><li>support the Principal with behaviour management and student engagement strategies</li><li>have the capacity to act as Principal during their absence, ensuring the smooth management of school operations</li><li>the ability to deliver professional learning, build staff capacity and assist in conflict resolution</li></ul><p><strong>Special Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>a strong commitment to Catholic education and the ethos of Catholic schools</li><li>accreditation to teach Religious Education</li><li>full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching</li><li>the appropriate qualifications including a Master’s Degree</li></ul><p>St Mary&#39;s School promotes the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children.
