School term canteen assistant: Support food service, maintain cleanliness, and assist students in a dynamic school environment
<p><strong>MacKillop College, Bathurst</strong><br><strong>All-girls, years 7-12</strong><br><strong>Permanent, Part Time (70 hours/fortnight)</strong><br><strong>Commencing: Term 1 2025</strong></p><p><br><strong>About the Role</strong><br>The Canteen Assistant is a member of the School Support team. The role provides support and assistance in the Canteen and is responsible to the Office Manager and Principal.</p><p>We are seeking a Canteen Assistant who understands and commits to supporting the mission and ethos of Catholic education within the school by:</p><ul><li>Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act</li><li>Provide a clean, hygenic environment for the preparation, storage and safe handling of food in accordance with current food handling regulations.</li><li>Provide a healthy, varied and affordable canteen menu for students and staff, including the availability of breakfast, recess and lunch and weekly specials.</li><li>Operate the Flexischools ordering system.</li><li>Ability to meet daily timeframes.</li><li>Competent computer skills for the purpose of online ordering.</li><li>Coordinate Canteen staff and volunteers and ensure a pleasant working environment.</li><li>Assist with the catering of internal College functions and special events</li><li>Ordering, purchasing and checking all supplies against delivery dockets and invoices.</li><li>Coordinating the induction and rostering of volunteers.</li><li>Logging maintenance issues and adhering to WHS policies and procedures.</li><li>Counting and recording of the daily takings.</li><li>Serving students and staff in an efficient and friendly manner.</li><li>Other duties as required by the Business Manager or Principal.</li></ul><p><strong>About You (selection criteria)</strong><br>We are looking for someone who an address the following selection criteria:</p><ul><li>Excellent communication and organisational skills.</li><li>Current Working With Children Check</li><li>Current Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain)</li><li>Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)</li><li>Competent food and menu preparation skills.</li><li>Ability to work with limited supervision </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team</li><li>Prior experience with food handling in a school environment (Desirable)</li><li>Barista experience (Desirable)</li></ul><p><br><strong>About Our Offer</strong></p><ul><li>A great opportunity to make a difference in students’ lives</li><li>Positive, engaging, and supportive culture</li><li>Term work only, be paid through the holidays</li><li>Hospitality role with the perks of school hours</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>About Us</strong><br>Responsible for 33 schools, approximately 9,600 students and 1,700 staff, Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst (CEDB) is encompassed by the Blue Mountains, Warrumbungle Ranges, the Pilliga, Macquarie River, Lachlan River, Abercrombie River and the Jenolan State Forest.
