<p><strong>Information Literacy Skills</strong></p><ul><li>Collaborate with classroom teachers to teach information literacy skills relevant to the curriculum; </li><li>maintain a working knowledge of the curriculum across all learning areas and year levels; </li><li>assist and develop students’ research skills so they are able to research, critically evaluate, synthesise and present information using a range of resources and technologies, and</li><li>provide training to all students and staff in the effective use of library technology and information systems.</li></ul><p><strong>Reading</strong></p><ul><li>Assist with the development of a reading culture within the College including promotion of the relationship between reading and academic success, as well as reading and wellbeing; </li><li>select and cull library resources to curate a collection which supports the learning needs and interests of students; </li><li>maintain an in-depth knowledge Young Adult Literature; </li><li>source books that are appropriate for all levels of engagement and interest, including English Language Learners;</li><li>assist English / EAL teachers with small group conferences, guided reading and assessment of reading comprehension during reading / library sessions;</li><li>work with the Learning and Teaching executive to develop, promote and teach a research-based reading program, and</li><li>display a passion for reading and promote reading to students and staff. </li></ul><p><strong>General Library Duties</strong></p><ul><li>Ensure the library is a welcoming and supportive environment for students; </li><li>oversee the day-to-day running of the library and be responsible for staff allocated to this area;</li><li>supervise students and manage issues as they arise;</li><li>perform library duties including cataloguing, circulation, returns, shelving of resources and stocktaking; </li><li>respond to reference and research enquiries; </li><li>assist students and staff with printing and photocopying; supervision of students; </li><li>general maintenance of the library environment; </li><li>develop procedures, policies and protocols in relation to student and staff use of the library so that learning opportunities can be maximised and the library operates effectively;</li><li>support the online presence and resourcing of the library via websites and digital resource collections;</li><li>develop a library learning environment that provides a space for collaboration, exploration and engagement;</li><li>promote a range of different activities in the library at recess, lunchtime and afterschool.</li></ul>
