<p><strong>Position Purpose</strong></p><p>This role is pivotal to the success of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education across ACS. A strong curriculum knowledge is necessary so that the educational programs can be pivoted to improve the outcome of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and also increase the recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in learning programs. It will be seen as essential to liaise with schools in  building  credibility in these areas as well as assisting schools in the development of cultural plans for these students.</p><p> </p><p>A primary focus will also see this person play a key role in embedding a culturally inclusive curriculum across Key Learning Areas (KLA’s) as well as liaising with key staff throughout the diocese in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language program plus focus teachers and AEAs in primary schools.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Commencement</strong></p><p>The anticipated commencement date for this position is 30 January 2025.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Essential criteria</strong></p><ul><li>This is an identified position, and applicants must be an Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander person. Confirmation of Aboriginality will be required</li><li>Appropriate teaching qualifications and current NESA registration. with a specialisation in Primary Education</li><li>Strong Curriculum Knowledge</li><li>Strong strategic data ecosystem analysis understanding and planning capability to drive and support  innovative programs and initiatives to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students</li><li>Maintain and develop professional learning knowledge, practices and relationships</li><li>Strong relationship skills and the ability to build trust with key stakeholders</li><li>Current driver’s license and willingness to undertake travel including overnight stays to fulfil the requirements of the role</li><li>Demonstrate understanding of and sincere commitment to the aims and philosophy of Catholic Education, including the values of social justice, equity and reconciliation</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Desirable criteria</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Demonstrate and display an understanding of Cultural knowledge </strong></li><li>Strategic program planning skills, including capacity to develop program implementation advice</li><li>Excellent understanding and use of technologies to maximise efficiencies and minimise risk</li><li>Highly developed administrative and organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting timeframes</li><li>Excellent communication and relational skills and ability to work in a diverse multidisciplinary team</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Conditions of employment</strong></p><ul><li>This is a temporary position for one to three years negotiable </li><li>This role is only available as a secondment for staff already employed within Armidale Catholic Schools.
