There are 23 Flexible Schools throughout Australia who offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Enrolled young people may express a broad range of complex education and social needs and flexible schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness.</p><p>The purpose of a Flexible School is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences supporting them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness.<br /><br /> </p><p><strong>ABOUT THE SCHOOL</strong><br />St Laurence Flexible Learning Centre is a small registered and accredited Special Assistance School with an emphasis on high quality teaching and learning, wellbeing support, small class sizes, and qualifications that empower young people.</p><p>Our cohort includes 50 young people and a team of 14 staff including teachers and youth support workers.</p><p>Our goal is to re-ignite the curiosity of our young people and re-engage them in learning through meaningful and creative learning opportunities. Learning is delivered through not only the stage 5 curriculum, but our diverse elective program (including activities such as photography, cycling and fishing). They have delegated responsibility to develop and maintain learning and social inclusion responses of the campus.
