There are 23 Flexible Schools throughout Australia who offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Enrolled young people may express a broad range of complex education and social needs and flexible schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness.</p><p>The purpose of a Flexible School is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences supporting them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness.<br /><br /> </p><p><strong>ABOUT THE SCHOOL</strong><br />St Laurence Flexible Learning Centre is a small registered and accredited Special Assistance School with an emphasis on high quality teaching and learning, wellbeing support, small class sizes, and qualifications that empower young people.</p><p>Our cohort includes 50 young people and a team of 14 staff including teachers and youth support workers.</p><p>Our goal is to re-ignite the curiosity of our young people and re-engage them in learning through meaningful and creative learning opportunities. Learning is delivered through not only the stage 5 curriculum, but our diverse elective program (including activities such as photography, cycling and fishing). Through our electives, we connect youth with community, expose them to new skills and expand their view on possibilities around them.</p><p>As a member of our staff and community, you will join a dedicated and collaborative team working together to reduce barriers to education, support learning and wellbeing and support young people to transition into the world of work and further study.</p><p>We are proud to work in a relational, inclusive and diverse community based on common ground where young people are supported to develop independence. They have delegated responsibility to develop and maintain learning and social inclusion responses of the campus.
