St Dominic’s College, Kingswood is a Catholic school in the Blessed Edmund Rice tradition conducted by Edmund Rice Education Australia. Founded by the Christian Brothers in 1959, the College has a current enrolment of 1000 boys. <p>The College is seeking a highly motivated, suitably qualified Careers Advisor to lead and implement a comprehensive career education program for students from Years 7 to 12. This is a permanent position, with flexibility for full-time or part-time arrangements, commencing at the beginning of the 2025 College year.</p><p><strong>About the role</strong></p><p>As the Careers Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ transition from school to further education, training, or employment. You will oversee the development, implementation, and management of a whole-school career education program aligned with the College’s mission and values.</p><p><strong>Key responsibilities include:</strong></p><ul><li>Conducting individual career counselling sessions with students, focusing on Years 11 and 12.</li><li>Guiding students in exploring post-school pathways, including university, TAFE, apprenticeships, and the workforce.</li><li>Assisting with tertiary education applications, including the Educational Access Scheme, Early Entry, and Scholarships.</li><li>Providing tailored career advice to align with students&#39; strengths and aspirations.</li><li>Coordinating TVET enrolments and providing ongoing support to students undertaking TAFE courses.</li><li>Organising presentations by universities, employers, and guest speakers to enhance career awareness.</li><li>Facilitating the Year 10 Leavers Program, including resume preparation, interview skills, and workplace readiness.</li><li>Delivering parent and student presentations on career topics, including subject selection and university application processes.</li><li>Supporting students with applications for cadetships, internships, Co-op Programs, and scholarships.</li><li>Promoting attendance at open days and information sessions for universities, TAFE, and employers.</li><li>Liaising with the College Leadership Team and KLA Coordinators to integrate career education into the curriculum.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Essential Criteria:</strong></p><ul><li>A <strong>Graduate Certificate in Career Development</strong> (or equivalent qualification).</li><li>Proven experience in career counselling or a related field, ideally in a NSW school setting.</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff.</li><li>Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.</li><li>A collaborative and proactive approach to building positive professional relationships.</li><li>High-level ICT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant career development software.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Highly Desirable Criteria:</strong></p><ul><li>Experience working with male adolescents.</li><li>Familiarity with educational pathways, industry trends, and alternative university entry schemes.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Special Note for Applicants:</strong></p><p>Teachers with relevant experience and a strong passion for career education are welcome to apply.</p><p> </p><p>Applicants are encouraged to visit the College website <a href="http://www.stdominics.nsw.edu.au" rel="nofollow">www.stdominics.nsw.edu.au</a> for further information about the College.
