St Anthony's Primary School is looking to appoint committed, dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Officers to join our learning community and support our students in 2025. These are fixed term positions. The hours of employment will be Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 3.00 pm during school terms only.

<p>Responsibility for all students remains with the Class Teacher therefore a Learning Support Officer works under the direct supervision of the classroom Teacher and Leaders.</p><p>Professional expectations of a Learning Support Officer include but are not limited to the following:</p><ul><li>Be an active member of the Learning Support Officer team</li><li>Communicate effectively and display a high level of interpersonal skills so as to function as an effective team member;</li><li>Share experience and learning strategies that support known disabilities and learning needs to provide relevant and positive learning opportunities for all students</li><li>Demonstrate a sense of confidentiality, reliability and sensitivity to students and their families;</li><li>Contribute to the provision of a quality educational service by assisting and supporting teachers with the preparation and enhancement of learning materials and associated activities;</li><li>Show respect, empathy and acceptance for individual differences when dealing with students;</li><li>Encourage students in ways which promote their positive self concept and esteem;</li><li>Provide opportunities for students to develop personal, social and independent living;</li><li>Use language, equipment, materials and strategies suited to the students’ needs;</li><li>Help implement and collect evidence to support personalised learning plans (PLP) and for NCCD submission</li><li>Assist with the modification of general activities to particular needs where necessary;</li><li>Maintain anecdotal records on student achievement, regularly providing feedback to class teachers;</li><li>Implement programs identified by specialists such as speech pathologists;</li><li>Use knowledge of classroom strategies and programs (including classroom behaviour management strategies) for supporting students with special needs;</li><li>Support the first aid and yard duty roster;</li><li>Cover the school office when required answering phones and simple tasks;</li><li>Assist with small group activities as directed by the class teacher;</li><li>Use computers/iPad&#39;s with students when appropriate;</li><li>Contribute to positive staff relations;</li><li>Attend appropriate training throughout the school year e.g. first aid, occasional professional learning for staff</li><li>Attend community events, when possible e.g. sacramental celebrations, school picnics, twilight sports, school Christmas carols.</li></ul><p>Applicants must</p><ul><li>Understand and support the Catholic ethos and vision of the School</li><li>Be familiar and comply with all requirements of Child Safety, policies and legal responsibilities concerning the safety, care and wellbeing of all students.</li></ul><p>Applicants must have:</p><ol><li>Working With Children Check</li><li>Current National Police Check (must be provided by successful applicants prior to commencing employment at St Anthony&#39;s)</li><li>Current First Aid qualifications</li><li><p>Certificate lll and/or Certificate lV in Education Support (or a commitment to completing further study)</p><p> </p></li></ol>
