Kilbreda students today have every opportunity to become women of hope and compassion with a personal commitment to justice and the courage to speak out and respond to the needs of others.</p><p>Kilbreda College is a Kildare Education Ministries School in the Brigidine Tradition.</p><p>The College was recently recognised by <strong>The Educator as a 5 Star Employer of Choice</strong>.</p><p> </p><p><strong>About the Position</strong></p><p>The College Counsellor will work in partnership with other members of the Counselling and Student Wellbeing Team, the Head of Learning Diversity, College Nurse, Teachers, and Families to provide a coordinated approach to student wellbeing. </p><p> </p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities areas:</strong></p><ul><li>Counselling and Support Services</li><li>Staff Education</li><li>Pastoral Care/Child Safety</li><li>Professional Development</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Key Aspects to these areas:</strong></p><ul><li>In collaboration with the counselling team, develop and document systems and processes for the provision of counselling services and educational assessments</li><li>Provide individual or group counselling to students with emotional, social, behavioural, or organisational concerns, or concerns relating to learning difficulties</li><li>Ensure appropriate documentation and record keeping of counselling services provided</li><li>Provide appropriate feedback and follow-up to students’ family, Year Level Leaders/Student Wellbeing Leaders and teachers</li><li>Refer students and families to external agencies and professionals where medium to long-term support and case management is required</li><li>Assist with applications for Special Provisions, Educational Access Schemes and other relevant grants from Government Sources</li><li>Contribute to the planning and provision of workshops and programs for students, staff and families to support understanding of current adolescent issues</li><li>Contribute to the development and implementation of relevant school policies, procedures and programs</li><li>Design and deliver training to support staff in developing their understanding of and response to the wellbeing needs of students, as required</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>About You</strong></p><p><strong>Key Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Appropriate qualifications in counselling/ psychology/ social work and professional registration</li><li>An understanding of the issues that affect the personal, social and emotional wellbeing of adolescent girls</li><li>Extensive practice and knowledge in delivering counselling services within an educational setting, including the use of a range of therapeutic practices</li><li>Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people</li><li>Highly developed decision-making skills, experience in implementing critical incident management plans and a demonstrated ability to think strategically, creatively, analytically, and problem-solve</li><li>Strong organisational and time management skills, with an ability to prioritise tasks, meet prescribed deadlines</li><li>Demonstrated ability to design and deliver professional learning for staff related to student engagement and wellbeing</li><li>An understanding of the mission of a Catholic school and the implications for the work of the Head of Counselling Services in this context</li><li>A commitment to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children</li></ul><p> </p><p>A current Working With Children Check (employee) and National Criminal History Check are essential requirements of this position.</p><p> </p><p><strong>This position is full time, fixed term 12 months, commencing 28 January 2025</strong></p><p> </p><p>All applications should include a cover letter, resume, and application for employment form.
