Through active collaboration with teachers and staff, the CSA helps create opportunities for students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This role involves providing tailored support to meet the diverse needs of learners, including those with special educational needs, by reinforcing lesson plans, facilitating small group activities, and offering one-on-one assistance. By ensuring that both teachers and students are well-supported, the CSA plays an integral part in enhancing educational outcomes and helping students achieve their full potential.</p><p><strong>Benefits and Opportunities</strong></p><ul><li>A positive and collaborative workplace culture</li><li>An extensive training in our high-quality professional learning program, <a href="https://catalyst.cg.catholic.edu.au/">Catalyst</a></li><li>Access to curriculum resources that support evidence-based, high impact teaching practice</li><li>Access to salary packaging, including novated leasing</li><li>24 weeks of paid parental leave (maternity/adoption)</li><li>Up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave (paternity/non-initial primary carer leave)</li></ul><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p>Some key duties of the Classroom Support Assistant will include, but not limited to:</p><ul><li>Work in consultation with the classroom support teacher to undertake specialist instruction for students in specific areas, particularly facilitation of programs such as MiniLit, MacLit and The Reading Tutor Program.</li><li>Demonstrate initiative, liaise, and work collaboratively with class teachers to provide learning support for students.</li><li>Assist students as directed by the class teacher, either in the supervision of the class (while the teacher focuses on student/s requiring support), in a 1:1 situation, or in small groups within view of a class teacher.</li><li>Support students by listening, directing, explaining, reassuring, encouraging, re-directing, and reinforcing.</li><li>Prepare specialised learning materials as directed by the teacher and as required to implement the class teacher’s program.</li><li>Under direction, take students for their individualised education plans in specific areas, support personal care needs, and report to teachers on student progress.</li><li>Work in collaboration with teachers to implement learning and teaching strategies for an individual student, group of students, or class.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Completion of Certificate IV in School-Based Education Support; or</li><li>Third year or final year of study and completion of the practicum in a relevant initial teacher education (ITE) qualification.</li><li>Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP) registration.</li></ul><p><strong>Selection Criteria</strong></p><ol><li>An ability to assist in implementing an effective model of service to support teachers in the classroom.</li><li>An understanding and appreciation of the learning and social needs of such students and their families.</li><li>An ability to use initiative, discretion, and judgment in planning, organising, and achieving outcomes under time constraints.</li><li>Capacity to provide specialist technical advice, direction, and assistance in the area of expertise using skills and knowledge relevant to the qualification for this level.</li><li>Capability to resolve complex problems and coordinate work within their department.</li><li>Excellent management and organisational skills that create supportive and safe environments, including managing challenging student behaviours and meeting a variety of social and emotional needs.</li><li>A willingness to contribute towards the wider school community, to build and strengthen school’s relationship with parents, parish and community.</li></ol><p><i>Please refer to the position description for in-depth details regarding the position duties, criteria and skill set required.</i></p><p><strong>Other Eligibility Criteria </strong></p><ul><li>You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position. </li><li>Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment in accordance with CECG policy. </li></ul><p><strong>Application Process</strong></p><p>Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and current resume including a statement of suitability against the skills, attributes and experiences as outline in the Position Description.</p><p>This position involves working with children.
