The Teacher of Diverse Learning works with the Leader of Learning – Diverse Learning to ensure that perspectives of diversity and inclusion are incorporated into all aspects of learning so all students can access the curriculum.

As a learner focused contemporary learning community Chevalier College enables students to be collaborative and future-facing thinkers who activate purposeful, meaningful and positive change in a rapidly changing world.</p><p><strong>Role Outline </strong></p><p>The Teacher of Diverse Learning works with the Leader of Learning – Diverse Learning to ensure that perspectives of diversity and inclusion are incorporated into all aspects of learning so all students can access the curriculum. Reporting directly to the Leader of Learning – Diverse Learning, the Teacher of Diverse Learning is an adaptive expert who works alongside leaders and teachers in a variety of modes to share their knowledge, understanding and expertise. </p><p>The Teacher of Diverse Learning:</p><ul><li>Works closely with the Leader of Learning – Diverse Learning to: <ul><li>promote meaningful and age-appropriate learning for students with identified learning needs. </li><li>maintain safe and inclusive learning environments and implement fair and equitable behaviour management plans.</li><li>interpret assessment data to diagnose learning challenges and then develop responsive plans to enable learning.</li><li>assist and support Case Management processes and implement strategies which derive from them.</li><li>collaboratively develop student profiles and personalised learning plans for students with diverse learning needs.</li><li>attend staff and Diverse Learning meetings and contribute to extracurricular opportunities for students as required.<br /><br /> </li></ul></li><li>Works closely with the classroom teachers to:<ul><li>collaboratively identify, prioritise and respond to the diverse learning needs of students.</li><li>model inclusive teaching practices to build the capacity of classroom teachers.</li><li>build the capacity of students to participate and succeed in regular classroom activities.</li><li>assist with the delivery of professional learning opportunities for all staff in their field of expertise. </li><li>perform fair and reasonable other tasks as directed by the principal or their delegate.</li></ul></li></ul><p><strong>Please Note</strong>: The Teacher of Diverse Learning is a resource for the whole school community. As such, it is highly desirable that they have:</p><ul><li>qualifications in inclusive education, or similar.</li><li>extensive experience as a classroom teacher. </li><li>expertise with literacy and numeracy support programs, or similar.</li></ul><p><strong>Additional information</strong> </p><ul><li>Diverse learning teachers are required to take a class as a substantiative teacher in a Key Learning Area of suitability. </li><li>All teachers appointed to permanent positions at Chevalier College are required to uphold an extracurricular commitment which requires afternoon coaching 2 days a week and attendance at Saturday fixtures for up 12-14 weeks for either a winter or summer season.  </li><li>Salary and conditions will be as per the NSW Catholic Independent Schools (Teachers – Model B) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2023. </li></ul>
