Meriden is a leading Anglican girls’ school located in Sydney’s inner-west. This is a full-time, permanent position. Salary range: $90,000- $115,000

<p>Meriden is an Anglican school with a Christian foundation. Many of the staff live out their Christian faith and are active members of a local church. Meriden seeks to cater for all students’ interests and abilities and offers a broad range of subject areas which are taught in purpose built facilities.</p><p>We welcome applications for the position of English Teacher in our Senior School campus. This is a permanent full-time reporting to the Head of Department – English and ultimately, the Principal.</p><p><strong>Overview</strong></p><p>We are looking to appoint a qualified and passionate English teacher to join our collegial and dynamic department. The successful applicant will possess a deep understanding of content, current English syllabus documents and pedagogical strategies. They will be driven by an innate passion for literature and love for the subject. </p><p><strong>Professional Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Contribute to writing, updating and developing resources and programs</li><li>Contribute to the composition of authentic and timely assessment tasks</li><li>Provide regular, written and verbal feedback to students to enhance their learning</li><li>Meet departmental and school deadlines</li><li>Differentiate to meet the needs of diverse secondary students</li><li>Willingly participate in professional learning, demonstrating evidence of changed practice.</li></ul><p><strong>Essential Attributes:</strong></p><ul><li>A deep love and knowledge of English literature and language, combined with an ability to encourage and inspire students</li><li>Collaborative skills and an open mind</li><li>A thorough understanding of the Australian Curriculum and a willingness to embrace Meriden’s inquiry learning focus</li><li>Innovative life-long learner</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications and Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>Tertiary qualified</li><li>At least two years (2yrs&#43;) or more teaching experience </li></ul><p><strong>Personal Attributes and Skills:</strong></p><ul><li>Displays excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a high level of collaborative practice</li><li>Positively contributes to and works as an effective team member</li><li>Possesses a broad and deep understanding of current educational issues, curriculum development, and pedagogical theory</li><li>Represents the School proudly and appropriately, with high standards of speech and attire</li><li>Displays clear and effective written and oral communication skills</li><li>Demonstrates proficient ICT skills and expertise</li><li>A willingness to embrace and enhance the Christian ethos and practice of Meriden, as an independent Anglican School for girls</li><li>Loyal to the Principal and publicly supportive of her decisions.</li></ul><p><strong>How to apply:</strong></p><p>Written applications should be addressed to the Principal, Mrs Lisa Brown, and include the following:</p><ul><li>A cover letter with your title</li><li>Detailed CV outlining qualifications and experience</li><li>A current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number with your date of birth</li><li>Details of NESA Accreditation</li><li>A copy of your valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate</li><li>Names and contact details of three referees.
