<p><strong>TEACH ON TIWI IN 2025</strong><br /><br />Are you looking for a teaching position in a culturally rich environment that will offer you the growth and challenge of a lifetime?<br /><br />We are seeking a<strong> Leader of Learning</strong> with a passion for education and leadership.</p><p>Murrupurtiyanuwu Catholic Primary School (MCPS) is located in Wurrumiyanga, Bathurst Island, 80km north of Darwin. We provide a holistic Catholic education for students in the Early Years to Year 6. Our staff, with the strong support of local Tiwi Teachers, and cultural and community leaders, are committed to making a difference every day in the lives of young Tiwi people.<br /><br />Teaching on Tiwi is a privileged and extremely rewarding experience, where you will find yourself fully immersed in a culturally and spiritually rich environment. You will be required to collaborate with Tiwi Teachers as part of a two-way curriculum, teaching students who are socially and culturally different from you. You must be open to learning from those around you and in the community, even from your own students.</p><p><strong>Person Specification:</strong></p><ul><li>Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum, programming, planning and assessment</li><li>Comprehensive knowledge of EAL/D programmes, pedagogy and strategies </li><li>Demonstrated excellence in teaching across a number of year levels</li><li>Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work as part of a team</li><li>Demonstrated experience and skills in team teaching and team planning</li><li>High level of organisational, communication and planning skills</li><li>Ability to lead and work collaboratively with staff, students, parents and external agencies.</li></ul><p><strong>Ongoing Areas of Leadership:</strong></p><ul><li>Leadership of curriculum initiatives that stem from the MCPS’ Strategic Plan.</li><li>Liaising with collaborative teams, Catholic Education Office (CENT), parents and other bodies eg Universities, NT Department of Education</li><li>Curriculum planning and programming,</li><li>Assessment and Reporting</li><li>Future planning &amp; educational developments.</li><li>Providing regular support to teachers, particularly new staff on planning, programming and assessment.</li><li>Updating policies for all curriculum areas in consultation with teachers</li><li>Attending Curriculum Coordinator meetings held at the CEO each term and providing feedback to staff at staff meetings.</li><li>Overseeing programming to monitor teaching and learning programs and support teachers within this area.</li><li>Coordinating whole school student reporting including editing and development of reporting timeline.</li><li>Leading staff Professional Development and ensuring staff have the opportunity to share their professional learnings with other staff.</li><li>Organisation and implementation of NAPLAN </li></ul><p>Consider submitting an application if:</p><ul><li>teaching is your calling.</li><li>you want to really make a difference for children and communities engaged in cultural maintenance and development through education.</li><li>you want to life and work in the beauty, diversity and splendor of Northern Australia.</li><li>you want to test your resilience and your capacity for teamwork and collaboration.</li></ul><p>Wurrumiyanga, Bathurst Island is readily accessible by air and ferry.
