Cranbrook School is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Senior School Health Centre team, based at our Senior School campus in Bellevue Hill.

<p><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION</strong></p><p>This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week, rostered on shifts Monday to Friday between the hours of 7am and 9pm. This is a term time only role, the Senior School Nurse is not required to work in student vacation periods.</p><p>Reporting to the Head of Health Centre, Senior School Nurses provide quality health care to both day students and boarders, as well as first aid for emergency care or injury of staff and visitors. The role includes the provision of medical support at inter-school sporting events, monitoring of boys at risk (such as returning to sport) and with special health requirements, medication administration, coordination of student immunisation programs, and maintenance of health records. </p><p><strong>ABOUT YOU</strong></p><p>The successful applicant will have nursing experience in either a school setting, or in general practice or community nursing. You will have a genuine interest in health promotion and student welfare, experience working with adolescents, and have a kind and empathetic nature. </p><p>You will have an appetite for a busy but key supportive role in a dynamic educational setting. You will be excited to be a part of further developing the role of the Health Centre, to take part in opportunities for health promotion and wellbeing initiatives with both students and staff, and to maintain and further enhance strong relationships with the Cranbrook boarding community.</p><p><strong>SELECTION CRITERIA</strong></p><ul><li>Registered Nurse with current registration certified by AHPRA </li><li>Experience working in schools or if no school experience, recent experience in general practice or community nursing</li><li>Current First Aid and CPR qualifications (Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications highly regarded)</li><li>Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Computer proficiency and the ability to work across a number of different IT platforms</li><li>Ability to build relationships with a range of people within the School community, including students, parents and staff</li><li>A proactive approach, demonstrated initiative and strong attention to detail</li><li>A friendly, kind and courteous manner</li><li>Honesty, patience and a sense of humour</li><li>Ability to think clearly and remain calm under pressure</li><li>A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural incident</li><li>A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children </li><li>A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children. </li></ul><p><strong>CLOSING DATE: Thursday 31 October 2024</strong></p><p><strong>HOW TO APPLY</strong></p><p>Applications should include a resume and a cover letter addressing the selection criteria and reasons for your interest in the position.
