This role involves collaborating with our Leadership Team to reimagine and redevelop our long-standing library Resource Centre into a modern Learning Commons.</p><p>Our vision for our Learning Commons is that it will play a key role in cultivating and facilitating collaboration to provide rich, progressive, future oriented learning opportunities for students. Our concept of a Learning Commons is a shift in thinking from a traditional library as a physical space, to a flexible, learner-centred, physical and/or virtual space for collaboration, inquiry and imagination.</p><p>Our Learning Commons will provide a contemporary and cohesive range of services for our students and staff. The goal of our Learning Commons will be student engagement and achievement through the refinement of instruction for essential literacy, research, inquiry and communication skills. As such, it will be key to building opportunities for student learning and will be a centre where this will be demonstrated, shared and showcased. Our Learning Commons teachers and support staff will be central to the facilitation of innovation in student centred learning.</p><p>As a member of our Middle Leadership team, the role of the Coordinator of the Learning Commons will be to work with the Principal and Executive to lead a vision for the strategic implementation of a Learning Commons that will support the creation of an information rich learning environment enabling students to become critical consumers of information, effective problem solvers, capable decision makers and innovative communicators.</p><p><strong>Benefits and Opportunities</strong></p><ul><li>A positive and collaborative workplace culture</li><li>An extensive training in our high-quality professional learning program, <a href="https://catalyst.cg.catholic.edu.au/">Catalyst</a></li><li>Access to curriculum resources that support evidence-based, high impact teaching practice</li><li>Support for professional development and study opportunities</li><li>Opportunities to transfer to other schools within the Archdiocese across ACT and NSW to support lifestyle choice</li><li>Access to salary packaging, including novated leasing</li><li>24 weeks of paid parental leave (maternity/adoption)</li><li>Up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave (paternity/non-initial primary carer leave)</li></ul><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>In collaboration with the Principal and AP Teaching and Learning, develop a vision for the strategic implementation of a Learning Commons at the College.</li><li>Strategically plan for and implement a Learning Commons model which has coherence with the curriculum and pedagogical direction of the College.</li><li>In collaboration with the AP Teaching and Learning, Directors of Learning and Learning Management Systems Coordinator, develop Professional Learning to build teacher capacity in essential literacies to enable the integration of these in all curriculum areas.</li><li>Strategically plan for the development of a Year 7 -12 reading culture in the school.</li><li>Collaborate with teachers to develop projects that focus on the refinement of instruction for essential literacy, research, inquiry, communication and critical thinking.</li><li>Collaborate with Executive, the Curriculum Leadership Team and Learning Commons staff to promote literacy and reading, media and information literacy, inquiry-based learning, technology integration, digital citizenship and ethical behaviours.</li><li>Demonstrate a deep knowledge of current educational research and practice.</li><li>Be well informed about essential literacy research and practice and the needs, skills, interests of Year 7 -12 students.</li><li>Demonstrate a deep knowledge of different learning styles and the role of differentiation in program implementation and curriculum resourcing.</li><li>Promote learning that utilises a variety of digital and communication technologies for lifelong learning.</li><li>Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the Australian Curriculum.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration&nbsp;</li><li>ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) registration</li><li>Bachelor of Education Degree</li></ul><p><strong>Selection Criteria</strong></p><ol><li>Extensive teacher experience and demonstrated curriculum knowledge and technology expertise.</li><li>Highly sophisticated written and verbal communication skills for a range of audiences.</li><li>Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Australian Curriculum, ACT BSSS policy, procedure and data requirements, professional practice in education, relevant legislation, and current research in education.</li><li>The ability to work collaboratively as a member of the Curriculum and Wellbeing Leadership teams, to plan and implement whole school goals.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in implementing policy and strategic directions to improve student learning and wellbeing.</li><li>The ability to form productive partnerships and constructive relationships with staff, students, families and College partners.</li><li>The ability to lead administrative tasks to ensure the College meets it legislative and regulatory responsibilities.</li></ol><p><i>Please refer to the position description for in-depth details regarding the position duties, criteria and skill set required.</i></p><p><strong>Other Eligibility Criteria&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.&nbsp;</li><li>Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment in accordance with CECG policy.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Application Process</strong></p><p>Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and current resume including a statement of suitability against the skills, attributes and experiences as outline in the Position Description.</p><p>This position involves working with children.
