By participating in the rich academic, co-curricular and spiritual life of the College, students aspire to achieve their personal best and to make a difference in the world. <br /> <br /><strong>Position Highlights</strong><br /> <br />The Literacy Coordinator 1 is a Middle Leader position, an expert teacher, skilled in language and literacy analysis to support the learning growth of all students. This role focuses on improving the literacy skills of students to enhance their comprehension, critical thinking and creative writing skills. The Literacy Coordinator works closely with the teaching staff to embed literacy strategies across all KLAs and collaborates with the Leader of Pedagogy to analyse data, strategically implement the whole school Literacy Plan and liaise with our primary schools to assist Stage 3 students transition to high school.<br /> <br />The Literacy Coordinator 1 is a promotional role, temporary for up to 3 years, however, your classroom teaching position (1FTE) will be full-time, and permanent. <p><strong>About You</strong><br /> <br />As a <strong>Literacy Coordinator 1</strong>, you work to ensure every student reaches their full potential through high quality, collaborative and engaging pedagogy.<br /> <br />To excel in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:</p>
<ul>
<li>accreditation at Proficient Teacher level or above</li>
<li>ongoing commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church and engagement in the life of a Catholic faith community</li>
<li>strong collaborative leadership, with the ability to work as part of a dynamic team, leading and monitoring initiatives and applying evaluative thinking to drive continuous improvement in literacy</li>
<li>the ability to provide differentiated, high-impact professional learning that ensures the continual development and growth of teacher expertise in literacy</li>
<li>successful teaching experience with the capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice in literacy</li>
<li>knowledge of the role of literacy in curriculum and assessment, and capacity to lead, review and design quality teaching and learning resources to improve student communication skills</li>
<li>well developed communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents</li>
<li>willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of Sydney Catholic Schools</li>
<li>knowledge and understanding of contemporary pedagogical practices</li>
<li>strength as a classroom practitioner</li>
<li>ability to design and deliver effective professional learning that aligns with the College's Annual Improvement Plan and system priorities to improve literacy in all key learning areas</li>
<li>ability to analyse data and coordinate effective strategies to improve teaching practice and learning outcomes</li>
<li>expertise in assessment design, with a focus on literacy, comprehension and critical thinking</li>
<li>commitment to academic excellence</li>
<li>a data-informed approach to setting challenging learning objectives and providing constructive feedback</li>
<li>experience as an English teacher (desirable).</li>

<p>You will have attained:</p>
<ul>
<li>a tertiary qualification in Education</li>
<li>eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)</li>
<li>Religious Education qualifications or the willingness to achieve them as per <a href="https://sydcatholicschools.nsw.edu.au/policies/accreditation-policy-to-work-teach-and-lead-in-sydney-catholic-schools">Accreditation Policy to Work, Teach, and Lead</a>.</li>
