<p><strong>Location:</strong> Catholic Education Office, Wollongong</p><p>The Director of Schools invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for this temporary&nbsp;part time position as an EAL/D Teacher at John Therry Catholic College, Rosemeadow commencing at the start of Term 1, 2025</p><p>This position exists to work collaboratively with subject specialist teachers to deliver quality learning and teaching whilst enhancing the academic English language learning opportunities for EAL/D students as they continue in their development of Standard Australian English.</p><p><strong>POSITION DESCRIPTION</strong></p><p>This position sits within the Learning&nbsp;K-12 Team, the position requires significant experience in curriculum and the capacity to support EAL/D students within Secondary Schools. This role is part of a wider EAL/D team and as such, the EAL/D Teacher will be required to:</p><ul><li>collaborate with the School Leadership Team and CEDoW EAL/D Officers.</li><li>work within the school team to implement the EAL/D Management Plan responsibilities.</li><li>design and facilitate professional learning opportunities in order to build teacher capacity.</li><li>coordinate, facilitate and respond to the collection of student work samples and assessment data.</li><li>support EAL/D students’ learning needs through a range of pedagogical processes, including collaborative planning, co-teaching with classroom teachers and the design of student learning plans.</li></ul><p><strong>ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA</strong></p><ul><li>Demonstrate a deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church.</li><li>A well-articulated understanding and application of student-centred, quality EAL/D pedagogical practices that are grounded in current evidence-based research.</li><li>The ability to identify EAL/D students’ needs and plan for appropriate student support 7-12.</li><li>Apply expert knowledge of the diverse needs of students of EAL/D to support their full participation in learning.</li><li>Facilitate the analysis of student work samples using the ACARA EAL/D Learning Progressions (and/or The ESL Scales) to direct teaching and learning.</li><li>Use a range of assessment strategies and analyse data to inform student learning.</li><li>Demonstrate commitment to engage professionally with colleagues, parents /carers and the wider school community.</li></ul><p><br><strong>GENERAL CAPABILITIES</strong></p><ul><li>Well-developed interpersonal skills.</li><li>Well-developed oral and written communication skills.</li><li>Strong organisational skills.</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.</li></ul><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p><ul><li>Post graduate TESOL qualification or a willingness to undertake such training.</li><li>Appropriate qualifications for teaching Secondary 7-12</li><li>Accredited Level B to teach Religious Education in accordance with To Work, Teach and Lead policy or a commitment to gain this level within the first 5 years of employment with CEDoW.</li><li>The applicant must be accredited with NESA to teach in NSW.</li></ul><p><strong>WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE</strong></p><p>This role is classified as child related work and therefore a Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to your employment with CEDoW.</p><p><strong>POSITION APPLICATION&nbsp;</strong></p><p>Applicants are to complete an online application which asks to briefly address the essential criteria (equivalent to 2-3 pages) and submit a short CV (2-3 pages).</p><p>To submit your Application please select the 'Apply Now' button at the bottom of this advertisement.</p><p>To confidentially discuss your application contact Sharon Gilbert, Project Officer - Learning K-12, on&nbsp;0408 904 183.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p><i>The Catholic Education Office is an agency of the Church called to stewardship and service in support of the System of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Wollongong.
