<p>Our College is situated in a beautiful 20-hectare bush setting, 7kms from Ballarat CBD.  We have a supportive and friendly work culture which balances professionalism with care and compassion.</p><p><strong>Learning Support Officer – Braille Specialist &#43; Generalists</strong></p><p>We are currently inviting applications from enthusiastic Learning Support Officers to fill a number of positions within our Student Growth and Engagement (SGE) Team commencing in January 2025. Learning Support Officers work closely with other members of the SGE team, Teacher Advisors and classroom teachers in implementing individualised targeted programs to support students both within, and outside of the classroom. We now have the following vacancies: </p><p><strong>Learning Support Officers – Braille Specialist (Extensive Needs). </strong></p><ul><li>To work on a 1:1 basis with vision impaired students</li><li>Assist teaching staff in delivering planned education programs and making curriculum accessible through alternate format documents and resources as required</li><li>Support the relevant teachers to administer braille based assessments</li><li>Supporting the orientation and mobility of the student around the school grounds</li></ul><p>Experience in the following would be well regarded for this position:</p><ul><li>Proficiency in operating a Perkins Brailler Machine, Braille Electronic notetaker, Duxbury Program braille software and the Microsoft suite and NVDA screen reader. </li><li>UEB 2 Braille for Literacy and Numeracy</li><li>Knowledge and understanding of issues relevant to blind or vision impaired students</li><li>Prior experience working with blind or vision impaired people</li></ul><p><strong>Learning Support Officers (General)</strong> support student learning under the direction and supervision of the teacher.
