St Andrew's Cathedral School was founded by the third Bishop of Sydney, Dr Alfred Barry. The School was opened on 14 July 1885 in the St Andrew's Schoolroom in Pitt Street, which was almost opposite the current headquarters of the Central Fire Brigade.
St Andrew's Cathedral School occupies a unique place in the life of the City of Sydney through its educational quality, Christian ethos and student learning practices.
The School offers a purposeful and creative learning environment for all students based on its central city location, its holistic approach to
education, its uplifting Cathedral setting with its inspired music, and its
clear Christian philosophy and mission.
