Deputy Head of Junior School

To us, every student is remarkable in the making.</strong></p><p>At present, we are pleased to invite applications to the position of <strong>Deputy Head of Junior School.</strong></p><p><strong><u>The role:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Permanent Full Time (teaching contract + initial 3-year leadership tenure).</li><li>Commences Term 1, 2025.</li><li>Works 40 weeks per year (all term time weeks, 1 week prior to the start of Term 1 + extra 5 days spread throughout remaining non-term time).</li><li>Attracts a Level 3 Leadership Allowance.</li><li>0.7 / 0.3 leadership / teaching split (teaching 'Bounce Back' pastoral lessons).</li><li>Responsible for all day-to-day operations P-6, including school calendar, daily run sheets, class covers, assemblies, and special events.</li><li>Develops, coordinates, and executes the P-6 pastoral care program, including case management of escalated student issues.</li><li>Oversees Year 6 student leadership.</li><li>Supports the Head of Junior School in delivering on the school's strategic objectives.</li><li>Supports the recruitment, coordination, development, and engagement of all P-6 staff.</li><li>Supports the development of the P-6 timetable.</li><li>Deputises for the HoJS when required.</li><li><strong>NB: as this role is responsible for class covers, it involves some administrative work on Sunday evenings and weekday early mornings.</strong></li></ul><p><strong><u>The ideal candidate:</u></strong></p><ul><li>NESA-qualified to teach (P-6) in NSW.</li><li>Post-graduate qualifications desirable (e.g. Masters in Educational Leadership).</li><li>Minimum 2 years in a P-6 Coordinator role.</li><li>Demonstrated success developing and executing pastoral care programs for primary years, with up-to-date knowledge of pastoral best practice.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in school operational management.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in people leadership.</li><li>Confident, organised, and personable - someone who leans into challenges, who operates comfortably in the detail, and who is motivated by positive student outcomes and organisational efficiency.</li></ul><p><strong><u>We offer:</u></strong></p><ul><li><strong>A vibrant, dynamic, and highly-regarded Junior School led by a professional, warm, and good-humoured HoJS.</strong></li><li>Advanced professional learning facilitated by KITE - the Kambala Institute of Teaching Excellence.</li><li>Competitive, above-agreement rates of pay.</li><li>Reserved carparking + staff shuttle bus to and from Edgecliff Station.</li><li>Daily hot & cold lunch menu at a nominal fee.</li><li>Access to pool, gym, and other school facilities.</li><li>Discounted tuition fees for children of permanent staff, and priority placement in Hampshire House, our Early Learning Centre (6months-4yrs).</li><li><strong>A diverse and inclusive work environment where everyone is listened to, valued, and free to be their authentic self.</strong></li><li><strong>NB - Saturday sport is not a requirement of this role.</strong></li></ul><p>If you are an accomplished primary educator who is excited about continuing their leadership journey at one of Australia's preeminent independent girls' schools, we look forward to receiving your application via the Seek advertisement.
