The 10 key success criteria skills and capabilities for a St Peter’s classroom teacher, aligned with the AITSL standards:</p><ol><li><strong>Know Students and How They Learn</strong>: Understand the diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles of students. Use this knowledge to design and implement engaging and effective lessons.</li><li><strong>Know the Content and How to Teach It</strong>: Have a deep understanding of the curriculum content and effective teaching strategies. Use this knowledge to deliver clear, concise, and relevant lessons.</li><li><strong>Plan for and Implement Effective Teaching and Learning</strong>: Design lesson plans that are aligned with curriculum standards, incorporate a variety of teaching methods, and cater to the needs of all students.</li><li><strong>Create and Maintain Supportive and Safe Learning Environments</strong>: Establish a classroom environment that is inclusive, respectful, and conducive to learning. Manage student behaviour effectively and promote a positive learning atmosphere.</li><li><strong>Assess, Provide Feedback, and Report on Student Learning</strong>: Use a range of assessment strategies to monitor student progress. Provide constructive feedback and communicate student achievements and areas for improvement to students and parents.</li><li><strong>Engage in Professional Learning</strong>: Continuously seek opportunities for professional development to enhance teaching practice. Stay current with educational research and innovations.</li><li><strong>Engage Professionally with Colleagues, Parents/Carers, and the Community</strong>: Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and resources. Build strong relationships with parents/carers and involve them in the educational process. Engage with the wider community to support student learning and wellbeing.</li><li><strong>Use Effective Classroom Management Strategies</strong>: Implement and maintain clear rules and routines. Use proactive and reactive strategies to manage student behaviour and ensure a productive learning environment.</li><li><strong>Demonstrate Professional Ethics and Conduct</strong>: Adhere to the ethical and professional standards of the teaching profession. Display integrity, respect, and fairness in all interactions with students, colleagues, and the community.</li><li><strong>Reflect on Teaching Practices</strong>: Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of teaching practices and make adjustments as needed. Seek feedback from peers and students to inform practice and improve student outcomes.</li></ol><p><strong><u>Commitment to Child Safety:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Experience working with children</li><li>A demonstrated understanding of the 11 Child Safety Standards (Ministerial Order No. 870) </li><li>A demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children</li><li>Familiarity with legal obligations relating to child safety (e.g. mandatory reporting)</li><li>Be a suitable person to engage in child-connected work</li></ul><p><strong><u>Commitment to Catholic Education:</u></strong></p><ul><li>A demonstrated understanding of the ethos of a Catholic school and its mission</li><li>A demonstrated understanding of the Church’s teachings and the Catholic teacher’s role in the mission of the Church</li><li>A demonstrated capacity to instil in students a respect for each other in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ</li><li>A capacity to integrate the Church’s teachings into all aspects of curriculum</li></ul>
