Catherine McAuley College is seeking to appoint a Koorie Education Worker to join the Student Support Team. Ideally someone who has experience working in education or a similar youth environment.

<p><strong>About the role</strong></p><p>The role of the Koorie Education Worker (KEW) is to support the academic targets of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and nurture cultural growth in Aboriginal history and culture of all students and staff at Catherine McAuley College.</p><p> </p><p>The KEW will work with families to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners to participate fully in their education and will support students and families through transitions across all learning stages of their secondary education.</p><p> </p><p>The KEW is specific to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and will be required to demonstrate the following:</p><p> </p><ul><li>Knowledge and understanding of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and issues related to these cultures in Australian society.</li><li>Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.</li><li>Ability to communicate with students, their family/carers and the local Aboriginal community.</li><li>Ability to communicate with the school Principal and staff.</li><li>Knowledge and commitment to improving learning outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.</li><li>Willingness to work with the whole school community.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>More information</strong></p><p>For more information about this role please email <a href="mailto:pandc&#64;cmc.vic.edu.au" rel="nofollow">pandc&#64;cmc.vic.edu.au</a></p><p>Successful applicants are required to be compliant with Mandatory Reporting certification and have a current Working with Children Check and Police Records Check.</p><p>Terms and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Victorian Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022 (CEMEA), as varied or replaced. This position is classified as a Category B Education Support Employee which means the successful applicants will normally work during the school term time only and receive paid school holidays.</p><p><strong>About Catherine McAuley College</strong></p><p>Catherine McAuley College is a co-educational Year 7 to 12 Catholic secondary school located in the beautiful central Victorian city of <a href="https://www.bendigoregion.com.au/explore-bendigo" rel="nofollow">Bendigo</a>.
