<p>At St Patrick&#39;s College, we believe great leadership is key when it comes to improving education, enriching learning experiences and maximising student outcomes. Commencing in Term 1, 2025, this is a tremendous opportunity to join our middle leadership team as the Head of Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) and lead a dynamic team.</p><p><strong>3-year (3-point) Promotional Appointment (2025 - 2027) &#43; full time permanent teaching position - Commence Term 1, 2025 </strong></p><p>Reporting directly to the Director of Curriculum and a key member of the Curriculum Team, you will be a highly experienced and accomplished educator, and able to provide proactive, high-quality instructional leadership to a dynamic team. As the Head of TAS, you will have a deep understanding of evidence-based pedagogy and a commitment to engaging and developing students and teachers as you lead the delivery of the TAS courses from Stage 4 to Stage 6, including Technology (Stage 4), Information and Software Technology (Stage 5), Industrial Technolgy - Timber (Stage 5 and Stage 6), Industrial Technolgy - Engineering (Stage 5 and Stage 6), Design and Technology (Stage 5 and Stage 6), Engineering Studies (Stage 6), Enterprise Computing (Stage 6), and Software Engineering (Stage 6).</p><p>This is a 3-point paid position with commensurate time release.</p><p>This is a dynamic role requiring exceptional communication, interpersonal and organisational skills together with an ability to prioritise and work autonomously. With a focus on continuous improvement, you will inspire, motivate and lead the pursuit of excellence in the pedagogies of teaching, contemporary teaching methodologies, differentiation of the curriculum, learning and assessment, classroom management, and professional development strategies to build the capability and capacity of the team.</p><p>To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate you satisfy the following selection criteria:</p><p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></p><ul><li>A working understanding of, and commitment to the Catholic ethos of a School in the Edmund Rice tradition.</li><li>Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundaries that reflect child safeguarding values in practice.</li><li>Experience in leading a professional team and able to provide proactive, high-quality leadership and management of a department.</li><li>Qualified to teach with NESA Accreditation and approval to teach in NSW across a range of Technology Courses (Stage 4 to Stage 6) together with at least five (5) years teaching experience and demonstrated excellence as a classroom practitioner.</li><li>The ability to co-ordinate high impact teaching and learning (curriculum, pedagogy, assessment) and drive student learning through a deep understanding of the TAS curriculum whilst ensuring reporting, monitoring and compliance requirements are met.</li><li>Previous experience in leading improvement in teaching practice (professional learning, evidence informed and collaborative practice)</li><li>Previous experience in, or capacity to lead the process of planning, developing and implementing the syllabus.</li><li>Proven track record in the identification of gifted students and management of a quality acceleration and enrichment program.</li><li>Expert knowledge of assessment and feedback with the ability to design and implement learning that caters for a diverse range of students.</li><li>Ability to build relational trust with a team using a disposition of self-reflection, open-mindedness, interpersonal courage, empathy, perseverance and resilience.</li><li>Exceptional communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.</li></ul><p><strong>Desirable Criteria</strong></p><ul><li>Postgraduate qualifications (in leadership, education, religious education or theology).</li><li>Higher School Certificate marking experience</li></ul><p><strong>How to apply</strong></p><p>To express your interest in joining our highly motivated professional staff, apply via the online ‘Career Application’ available on our website<a href="https://www.spc.nsw.edu.au/working-spc/working-spc-career-application/" rel="nofollow"> Working at SPC | St Patrick&#39;s College Strathfield </a></p><p>Your application should consist of:</p><p><strong>1.Cover letter</strong> (maximum two pages) that highlights your claim for the role and demonstrates your suitability by addressing the following two target questions:</p><p><strong>(a)</strong> Please outline how you would lead the TAS Department to achieve excellence in all aspects of teaching and learning?</p><p><strong>(b) </strong>How would you use your expertise to support and enrich the learning of our students?</p><p><strong>2.Current CV</strong> (maximum five pages) outlining your qualifications, experience and skills together with the contact information for three (3) referees (at least two must be from your current employer).</p><p><i>All applications should be addressed to The Principal (MS Word and PDF attachments are preferred).</i></p><p>We look forward to hearing how your capabilities, knowledge and experience make you the best person for this role.</p><p>A working understanding of, and a commitment to the Catholic ethos of a school in the Edmund Rice tradition, a valid Working with Children clearance and participation in the co-curricular program, are essential conditions of employment.</p><p>Evidence of a valid WWCC clearance will be required prior to employment.</p><p>St Patrick’s College is a child safe and child-centred organisation, committed to the protection of children and has zero-tolerance of any abuse of children.
