St Gabriel&#39;s values partnerships with its families, the parish and wider school community. </p><p>Our school is committed to valuing young people and their development as persons with a lifelong love of learning. </p><p>Educators who have the ability to use contemporary learning and teaching practices, personalise learning for students and work in a team environment are encouraged to apply.</p><p>We are currently seeking a dynamic, innovative, and highly motivated VIT registered teacher to work as the Mental Health in Primary School Teacher (MHiPS), the position is<strong> 0.4, two days a week.</strong></p><p>Operating in collaboration with the Victorian Department of Education&#39;s (DE) area-based multi-disciplinary teams, the Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader (MHWL) role will have the following functions:</p><ul><li>Promote a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing to students, staff and families</li><li>Support teachers and school staff to expand their capacity to embed evidence-based mental health strategies, interventions and programs and build mental health literacy to identify and support primary school students with mental health concerns.</li><li>Collaborate with school staff to inform, influence and provide input into teaching and learning related to mental health and wellbeing.</li><li>Provide support to school staff and classroom teachers to build their capabilities to embed mental health into the classroom.</li><li>Work with school leadership and wellbeing teams to embed whole school approaches to mental health into school planning and strategic processes.</li><li>Coordinate clear referral pathways internally (within their school) and externally (to community services) for students identified as requiring further assessment and intervention.</li><li>Proactively work with and support regional staff, school wellbeing and leadership teams, teachers, parents/carers and other external agencies to coordinate targeted mental health </li></ul><p><strong>To be successful in this opportunity you will require:</strong></p><ul><li>Tertiary qualification in Primary Education and VIT Registration</li><li>A sound understanding and knowledge of the primary years of schooling.</li><li>An ability to communicate effectively with both parents, and other professionals.</li><li>Professional experience in the area of wellbeing in school</li><li>Demonstrated ability to address students&#39; varying intellectual, emotional, and physical abilities in teaching practice and pedagogy.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including team building and mentoring skills.</li><li>Well-developed classroom management strategies which enhance student engagement and outcomes.</li><li>Willingness to uphold the ethos and values of the School at all times.</li></ul><p><strong>Why work for us</strong></p><ul><li>Collaborative and supportive team environment.</li><li>Access to professional development.</li><li>Designated planning space for teachers to work collaboratively without interruption.</li><li>Additional release time and mentor for graduate teachers</li><li>Dedicated support from school leadership</li><li>Salary Packaging Salary earning, $32,000- $48,000</li><li>Salary increases each January and July (Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited Schools and Secretariat Agreement 2022)</li><li>Annual leave loading</li><li>Flexible leave day</li><li>Parental leave – 16 weeks, superannuation up to 52 weeks</li><li>Social events to create community with staff and families</li><li>A strong team culture based on relationships and trust</li><li>Time in Lieu</li></ul><p><strong>How to apply</strong></p><p>Further information on this exciting opportunity and application process can be found by contacting Principal, Mrs Michelle Charlton. <a href="mailto:principal&#64;dbnarre.catholic.edu.au" rel="nofollow">principal&#64;stgtraralgon.catholic.edu.au</a> </p><p>Applications are to include a one-page cover letter addressed to the Principal and a CV that includes three professional referees.<strong> </strong></p><p>Applications close <strong>Monday 7th October 2024.</strong>  Please note: the interview process may commence prior to the closing date and, if a suitable applicant is found, the role may close early.  We would encourage applications to be received as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.</p><p><i>St Gabriel&#39;s Catholic Primary School is committed to the safety, wellbeing, participation, and empowerment of children.  Staff are required to adhere to the School’s Code of Conduct, Child Safety Policy and Procedure, the Mandatory Reporting Policy and be committed to the safety and wellbeing of children.</i></p><p><i>The successful applicant must have the right to work in Australia, will be subject to background checks and required to provide a current VIT registration.</i></p>
