We are currently seeking a dynamic, innovative, and highly motivated VIT registered teacher to work as the Mental Health in Primary School Teacher (MHiPS), the position is 0.4, two days a week.

<p>Sacred Heart Primary School is situated in Morwell, heart of the Latrobe Valley. It is Victoria’s energy centre and situated 150 kilometres east of Melbourne on the lands of the Gunaikurnai People, with a population of 15,000.</p><p><strong>About the Role</strong></p><p>Sacred Heart Primary School has an enrolment of 105 and is richly blessed with a proud community that is diverse and exciting. Our teams work collaboratively, planning together and supporting each other to ensure the best outcomes for our students. </p><p>We are currently seeking a dynamic, innovative, and highly motivated VIT registered teacher. to work as the Mental Health in Primary School Teacher  (MHiPS), the position is<strong> 0.4, two days a week.</strong></p><p>The role of the MHiPS teacher is to build the capability of the whole school with regard to mental health and wellbeing (identification, promotion and prevention), provide support to staff to better identify and support students with mental health needs, establish clear pathways for referral for students requiring assessment and intervention, and monitor and evaluate student progress. The role was specifically established as a coordination function to support educators in the classroom and to provide a crucial link to resources external to the school.</p><p>Operating in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training&#39;s area-based multi-disciplinary teams, the MHiPS teacher will:</p><ul><li>Embed evidence-based training and resources across the school to build the capability of staff to better identify and support students</li><li>Provide support to individual teachers in the classroom with students who have been identified as in need</li><li>Create clear pathways for students who may need further assessment and intervention within the school and to external community-based services</li><li>Use informed referral pathways to strengthen linkages between schools and community services</li><li>Work proactively with the LAL (Learning Adjustment Leader) and local health professionals to engage in appropriate mental health support</li><li>Be responsible for implementing whole-school approaches to mental health and well-being this means being part of the WSAPBS (Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour Support) team that is already established in the school</li><li>Work with the SRC (Student Representative Council) to empower their voice and guide their contributions to the development of the school.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Period:</strong> Ongoing</p><p><strong>Commencement Date:</strong> 28th January 2025</p><p><strong>Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:</strong></p><ul><li>Planning and implementing a range of teaching programs</li><li>Completing the MHiPS training program - including online modules, teamwork sessions, and point of need focus for the applicant and the school</li><li>Monitoring, evaluating program process, and reporting the leadership team relevant information</li><li>Implementing strategies to achieve targets related to program and showing an understanding of the connection with the school’s strategic plan</li><li>Model exemplary teaching practice in the school to engage in critical reflection of personal practice and to support staff to expand their capacity</li><li>Contribute to professional discussion about content, processes, and strategies that will shape individual and school professional learning</li><li>Work with all staff to use student data to inform teaching and</li></ul><p> <strong>Benefits:</strong></p><ul><li>Salary earning $32,000- $48,000</li><li>Salary increases each January and July (Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited Schools and Secretariat Agreement 2022)</li><li>Annual salary incremental progression, 1 May</li><li>Annual leave loading</li><li>Salary Packaging</li><li>Generous salary allowances</li><li>Flexible leave day</li><li>Various leave options available </li><li>Time in lieu</li><li>Dedicated support from school leadership</li><li>The latest IT and resources </li><li>Urban/regional modern school with onsite parking and close to public transport</li><li>Social events to create community with staff and families</li><li>Co-teach with exceptional teachers</li><li>A strong team culture based on relationships and trust</li><li>Outstanding Catholic faith-based curriculum </li></ul><p> <strong>Essential Knowledge and Experience</strong></p><ul><li>VIT registration</li><li>Accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic School is an advantage.</li><li>Exemplary teaching practice with proven classroom management practice</li><li>Comprehensive knowledge of current educational needs and achievement standards</li><li>Demonstrated ability to address students&#39; varying intellectual, emotional, and physical abilities in teaching practice and pedagogy.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including team building and mentoring skills.</li><li>Professional experience in the area of wellbeing in school </li></ul><p>Our staff demonstrate a commitment to Catholic education and to the safety and wellbeing of children.
