Central to this vision is the Director of Learning and Innovation, a position of senior responsibility, focussed on leading the College community in achieving the strategic vision for Learning – ‘<i>Every student will be helped to achieve his own academic excellence’</i>.</p><p><strong>3-year (4-point Leadership) promotional appointment (2025-2027) &#43; full time permanent teaching position - Commence 17 January 2024.</strong></p><p>Reporting to the Principal, the Director of Learning and Innovation is an exemplary educator, providing pedagogical leadership across Years 5-12 by reviewing current learning, teaching and assessment practices and, as part of a team, developing and implementing a process of change and improvement.  </p><p>The Director of Learning and Innovation will demonstrate a high level of knowledge in innovative learning, pedagogy, quality differentiation and assessment practices, contemporary learning environments and student-centred learning and will work closely with members of the College Leadership Team, Heads of Department, and the IT Department in promoting continual improvement in learning and teaching practice across the College. Responsibilities will span all Key Learning Areas for the ongoing improvement and transformation of learning and teaching. </p><p>The Director of Learning and Innovation is a 4-point paid and a 0.7 FTE release position and is subject to the College Executive Appraisal Process. This position has direct oversight of Professional Growth, Diverse Learning (Learning Support and Learning Enrichment), Learning Technology, Teaching and Learning (Stage 3) and Library and Information Services.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong> </p><p>The Director of Learning and Innovation will provide leadership in the following areas: </p><p><strong>Identity Leadership</strong> </p><ul><li>Contributing to the development of the College’s Catholic culture and the promotion of Christian values through personal witness  </li><li>Articulating clearly, at appropriate opportunities, the purpose of the Religious dimension of a Catholic College in the Edmund Rice tradition </li><li>Supporting quality teaching and learning of Religious Education throughout the College</li><li>Supporting quality teaching and learning which embodies the EREA Framework for Educating for Justice and Peace and the touchstone of Liberating Education.</li></ul><p><strong>Educational Leadership</strong> </p><ul><li>Demonstrating excellence as a classroom teacher modelling innovative learning, teaching and assessment practices in the classroom</li><li>Leading the implementation and review of the College’s Learning Framework by drawing on the knowledge and support of educational leaders and contemporary research in promoting high-quality practice in learning</li><li>Collaborating with College Middle Leaders and teachers to develop, implement and regularly evaluate learning, teaching, assessment and learning environments across Years 5 to 12 in line with the College’s Learning Framework</li><li>Providing ongoing development and support for middle leaders, in particular the Coordinators of Diverse Learning, Learning Support, Professional Services and the Learning Technology Integrator, to develop leadership capacity and to ensure the effective delivery of relevant programs in support of staff and student learning </li><li>Developing and implementing a contemporary and research-based vision for the use of technology in learning and teaching, inclusive of safe, ethical and moral practices</li></ul><p><strong>Administrative Leadership</strong> </p><ul><li>Assisting Heads of Department to develop, implement and monitor exemplary learning and teaching practices</li><li>Collecting and analysing student performance data (HSC, PSAM, AAS, NAPLAN, school-based literacy and numeracy tests and other diagnostic data) and assisting staff with the interpretation of this data to effectively inform their practice</li><li>Assisting with the development of the College’s Master Plan pertaining to ICT (infrastructure, hardware and software)</li><li>Identifying and ensuring all mandated ICT competencies and use of AI are addressed in relevant teaching programs with specific reference to course outcomes, and disseminating information to staff</li></ul><p><strong>Community Leadership</strong> </p><ul><li>Informing the College community on developments in curriculum, learning and teaching and the use of technology, including availability of online resources</li></ul><p>To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate you satisfy the following selection criteria:</p><p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></p><ul><li>A working understanding of, and commitment to, the Catholic ethos of a School in the Edmund Rice tradition</li><li>Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundaries that reflect child safeguarding values in practice</li><li>Postgraduate qualifications in one or more areas related to Educational Leadership, Innovative Learning and Teaching, Inclusive Education and/or Education Research or working towards one and/or at least 5 years&#39; experience in a senior school leadership position</li><li>Qualified Secondary Teacher (note subject/s you are qualified to teach) and/or Primary Teacher with NESA Accreditation and approval to teach in NSW.</li><li>An established reputation as an outstanding teacher with the qualities required to lead a Catholic College in the Edmund Rice tradition </li><li>A personal and professional commitment to continued school improvement</li><li>A person of outstanding character and leadership ability, able to model and inspire others to uphold the school’s vision, mission and values </li><li>Energy, enthusiasm and a passion for all matters related to Learning and its importance to holistic educational outcomes </li><li>Knowledge and understanding of contemporary best practice in learning and innovation and the needs of boys and young men</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with the Principal, Deputy Principal, Director of Curriculum and other members of the College Leadership Team in the achievement of strategic goals</li><li>Substantial experience in a middle leadership role with a proven track record of managing several direct reports </li><li>Experience in leading a school-wide project that was an essential part of a school’s strategic priorities</li><li>Experience in the leadership and management of innovative programs in a variety of educational contexts</li><li>Ability to develop and implement policy, structures and systems which ensure all aspects of the Colleges Learning Framework meets College standards and reflect the embedding of learning principles into contemporary pedagogy and best practice in the area</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current learning frameworks and research-based approaches to learning innovation in schools.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary educational issues with a specific focus on the link between learning and student wellbeing.</li><li>A strong interest in, and demonstrated ability to, develop connectedness and positive relationships with staff and students in relation to their learning.</li><li>Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated capacity to communicate clearly with students, colleagues, and the wider community regarding the future of education. </li><li>Demonstrated capacity to work in a dynamic team environment with proven ability to relate professionally and authentically to staff, students and parents alike, developing and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders. </li><li>Display strong workload prioritisation and time management skills with the demonstrated capacity to co-ordinate staff and manage projects or initiatives.</li></ul><p><strong>Desirable Criteria</strong></p><ul><li>Accreditation to teach Religious Education</li><li>Experience on a school leadership team</li></ul><p><strong>How to apply</strong> </p><p>To express your interest in joining our highly motivated professional leadership team, apply via the online &#39;Career Application&#39;
