<p><strong>Location:</strong> Within schools and CBD office&nbsp;<br><strong>Commencement Date:</strong> Term 4, 2024 or by negotiation<br><strong>Closing Date:</strong> Thursday, 19 September 2024<br><strong>Capacity:</strong> Full-time, temporary (up to 3 years)<br><br><strong>About the Role</strong><br><br>The Education Officer: English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) is responsible for developing professional learning and resources and provides specialist advice, assistance, and operational support to schools and networks to address the additional learning needs of students whose language background reflects English as an additional language or dialect across Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS).<br><br>Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:</p><ul><li>collaborating with colleagues to research, design, and deliver high-impact, evidence-based professional learning, and resources in EAL/D, including systemwide EAL/D guidelines and practices to build the individual and collective efficacy of EAL/D teachers within and across networks</li><li>building EAL/D teacher's individual and collective efficacy in the identification, assessment, and monitoring of EAL/D learners to inform whole-school pedagogical practices</li><li>providing ongoing support for schools by liaising with, and observing the practice of, EAL/D teachers to collaboratively plan with classroom teachers to develop high-challenge, high-support programs that include relevant contemporary strategies and resources</li><li>working collaboratively with the Primary New Arrivals Coordinator to cater to the needs of new arrival and refugee students, including establishing structures to support these students and their families</li><li>analysing individual school, network, and system data to provide snapshot reporting and insights on EAL/D students' learning and identify trends and issues to inform improvement strategies to enhance learning outcomes for all EAL/D students</li><li>liaising with secondary schools to establish effective working relationships with Intensive English Centres (IECs) in their locality</li><li>any other duties as directed from time to time.</li></ul><p><strong>About You</strong><br><br>To be successful in this position, you must possess:</p><ul><li>a NESA recognised tertiary qualification in Education or Teaching</li><li>demonstrated practice equivalent to Highly Accomplished or Lead level of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers</li><li>a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in a school</li><li>experience in leading staff in professional learning</li><li>demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and implementing EAL/D school-wide initiatives</li><li>experience in using data analysis to inform educational initiatives</li><li>a current driver's licence and access to a car.</li></ul><p>Desirable</p><ul><li>postgraduate qualification in Education or a related discipline</li><li>middle leadership experience in a school</li><li>knowledge of Catholic Systemic Schools/Systems</li><li>is a practising Catholic with demonstrated evidence of ongoing commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church and engagement in the life of a Catholic faith community, such as a parish or an established community within the Catholic Church, as an expression of their relationship with Jesus Christ.</li></ul><p><strong>Why Work for Sydney Catholic Schools</strong><br><br>In joining SCS, you will be part of the largest Catholic education community in NSW.
