<p><strong>St Mary's Cathedral College Sydney</strong><br><strong>Commencement Date:</strong> Monday, 14 October 2024<br><strong>Closing Date:</strong> Wednesday, 18 September 2024<br><strong>Capacity:</strong> Full-Time, Permanent<br><br>St Mary's Cathedral College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced teacher for the position of Instructional Leader VET (Years 9-12). This newly created leadership role attracts a 1 point remuneration and time allocation. This is a full-time position commencing Term 4, 2024. Ability to teach VET Construction is an advantage.<br><br><strong>About the role:</strong><br><br>The Instructional Leader forms part of the middle leadership team. The position is co-responsible with the Pastor, Principal and other Catholic lay leaders for the evangelising and catechising mission of the Church within an educational context. Reporting to the Dean of Senior Years, the Instructional Leader plays a vital role in ensuring that the SCS values of empathy, excellence, truth, curiosity and collaboration are drivers for establishing a thriving Catholic community.<br><br><br>The Instructional Leader is responsible for leading schoolwide excellence in pedagogical, curriculum and assessment practices and supporting the implementation of new pedagogies for learning in their key learning area(s). The Instructional Leader is an exemplary practitioner who builds the capacity of teachers to deliver excellent student outcomes.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>Major Accountabilities:</strong><br><br>The Instructional Leader is required to perform tasks that include but are not limited to:</p><ul><li>supporting the leadership of a school-wide culture of excellence, informed decision-making, and collaborative practice</li><li>working with the leadership team and other stakeholders in implementing a range of improvement strategies to ensure effective strategic change</li><li>actively promoting the integration of Catholic values and Catholic Social Teaching across the curriculum</li><li>ensuring consistency of teaching practice and shared teacher judgement drives assessment</li><li>demonstrating exemplary classroom teaching practice in their curriculum speciality</li><li>cultivating a contemporary and effective learning culture</li><li>developing and implementing effective and evidence-based professional learning to build the capacity of teachers</li><li>ensuring evaluation of teaching and teachers' goal setting related to performance and monitoring performance goal achievement</li><li>leading and collaborating within a culture of ongoing growth and improvement</li><li>demonstrating organisational, management and leadership skills</li><li>analysing data and trends within the school to identify areas for growth</li><li>actively promoting the relationship between student wellbeing and learning growth</li><li>contributing to a 'network approach' that promotes the reciprocal benefits of school system</li><li>ensuring all work activities align with SCS' vision, mission, values and Capability Framework</li><li>reporting all concerns regarding child safety and allegations of inappropriate conduct to the line manager and the SCS Child Safety team. SCS is a child-safe environment and all concerns regarding child safety and allegations of inappropriate conduct will be treated seriously</li><li>promoting and implementing Sydney Catholic Schools mission and vision To know and love Christ through learning and Thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning</li><li>promoting and abiding by Sydney Catholic Schools values of empathy, curiosity, excellence, collaboration and truth</li><li>any other duties as directed from time to time.</li></ul><p><strong>Key Duties</strong><br><br>In this position, your primary duties will include:</p><ul><li>demonstrating and leading exemplary, innovative and evidence-based real-world learning practice in selecting, organising and evaluating the content and delivering learning and teaching programs in the curriculum specialty</li><li>ensuring compliance with NSW Education Standards Authority and Australian government requirements for syllabus interpretation and implementation, programming, assessment, reporting and evaluation for each VET course</li><li>tracking student performance within the faculty and ensuring that effective assessment, responsiveness to data, timely feedback and differentiation are embedded within teaching programs and practices</li><li>monitoring teachers' goal setting related to performance and evaluating the achievement of set goals</li><li>contribute to and coordinate the growth of VET opportunities within Stages 5 and 6</li><li>collaborate with the Leader of Pathways and Partnerships to establish external partnerships that support the learning of VET</li><li>collaborate, where necessary, with the Instructional Leader: TAS to ensure cooperative practices and effective alignment in common areas.</li></ul><p><strong>Why Work for Sydney Catholic Schools</strong><br><br>In joining<a href="https://sydcatholicschools.nsw.edu.au/about-us"> Sydney Catholic Schools</a> (SCS), you will be part of the largest Catholic education community in NSW, with a unified vision and shared resources, encompassing over 145 schools and over 74,000 students.
