The SNP Co-ordinator has the responsibility for the management and operation of the School Nutrition Program and School Canteen to co-ordinate, prepare and deliver meals in accordance with the Australian Government’s Indigenous Advancement Strategy School Nutrition Project Schedule and Operational Framework.

Our staff, with the strong support of local Tiwi Teachers, and cultural and community leaders, are committed to making a difference every day in the lives of young Tiwi people.<br /><br />Working on Tiwi is a privileged and extremely rewarding experience, where you will find yourself fully immersed in a culturally and spiritually rich environment.<br /><br />The SNP Co-ordinator has the responsibility for the management and operation of the School Nutrition Program and School Canteen to co-ordinate, prepare and deliver meals in accordance with the Australian Government’s Indigenous Advancement Strategy School Nutrition Project Schedule and Operational Framework.</p><p><br />The role of the School Nutrition Program Coordinator includes the following tasks:</p><ul><li>Manage the preparation of nutritious meals (breakfast, morning tea and lunch) from the School Canteen;</li><li>Supervise, mentor and train SNP staff in kitchen operations, food preparation and safe food handling techniques in accordance with health &amp; hygiene regulations and the NT Food Act;</li><li>Manage and maintain appropriate food stocks and catering supplies;</li><li>Prepare and provide meal plans(menus) that provide variety and are culturally appropriate for the students;</li><li>Liaise with NT Dept of Health (DoH) nutritionists to determine healthy menu plans and compliance with the NT DoE’s School Nutrition &amp;amp; Healthy Eating Policy and Guidelines;</li><li>Provide meals for visitors and family/community members on special occasions as approved by the Principal;</li><li>Provide meals for staff members where such staff are contributing to the cost of their meals;</li><li>Ensure that the cleaning and maintenance of the canteen and its utensils is carried out to a high standard in order to comply with the Environmental Health Australia’s Australian Food Safety Assessment and the NT Food Standards Code.</li><li>Work in collaboration with the Principal and the CENT SNP Project Manager to operate the School Nutrition Program and School Canteen within the identified budget and reporting regime.</li><li>Record meal numbers and menu and complete monthly program reporting and submit to the Principal and CENT SNP Project Manager.</li><li>Liaise with NT DoH and Environmental Health Officers in meeting Australian Food Safety assessment</li><li>Any other duties assigned by the Principal, Deputy Principal or SNP Project Manager.</li></ul><p>Consider submitting an application if:</p><ul><li>you want to really make a difference for children and communities engaged in cultural maintenance and development through education.</li><li>you want to life and work in the beauty, diversity and splendour of Northern Australia.</li><li>you want to test your resilience and your capacity for teamwork and collaboration.</li></ul><p>Wurrumiyanga, Bathurst Island is readily accessible by air and ferry.
