Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW) serves Catholic school communities across the Illawarra, Macarthur, Southern Highlands and Shoalhaven regions. <p><strong>Location:</strong> Emmaus Catholic Education Centre, Macarthur</p><p>The Director of Schools invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for this temporary full time position of Education Officer, Improvement, Learning and Wellbeing (ILW) - Wellbeing and Student Support (WSS), commencing 16 September 2024 to 4 July 2025. The opportunity for secondment from a suitable CEDoW applicant is available.&nbsp;</p><p>The role of Education Officer forms part of the work of the Wellbeing and Student Support Team (WSS) K-12. This position has a focus on supporting students (7-12) with diverse learning, social and emotional, behavioural and wellbeing needs in the Illawarra/Shoalhaven and Macarthur Regions.&nbsp; Some work will extend to supporting students K-6 and across the CEDoW system of schools. The role will include working in collaboration with Principals, CatholicCare Counsellors, Diverse Learning Support Teachers, Learning&nbsp;Support Coordinators and Pastoral Care Coordinators and other members of the ILW service area.&nbsp; The role requires the observation of students in classroom settings, the development of individual support plans for students, as well as the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of these plans. The position also involves supporting schools and parents with enrolment and transition of students into schools and other educational settings. An additional aspect of the role requires strong understanding of policy and procedures supporting students with disability through the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).</p><p>The successful applicant will also be required to work closely with members of the WSS Team and others in developing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating ongoing personal and professional learning formation and growth experiences for school staff and others.</p><p><strong>ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA:</strong></p><ul><li>A deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of a Catholic school within the broader evangelising mission of the Catholic Church.</li><li>Has highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills with a particular capacity to inspire staff, bring about change and work towards achieving the CEDoW strategic goals</li><li>Has experience within an educational setting with an understanding of supporting students with diverse learning, wellbeing, mental health, behavioural and safety issues.</li><li>Competencies including ability to: Interpret medical documentation and student’s eligibility for NCCD.</li><li>Experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating individual plans for students related to their diverse learning, social and emotional, and behavioural needs, preferably in a secondary school environment.</li><li>Demonstrated commitment to engage professionally with colleagues, parents and the wider school community.</li></ul><p><strong>DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA:</strong></p><ul><li>Evidence of formal study in the areas of special education and/or social and emotional and/or behavioural support for students.</li><li>Experience as a middle leader or above in a school setting.</li><li>Demonstrate understanding and/or experience in dealing with complex learning needs of students.</li><li>Demonstrate an understanding of CEDoW&nbsp;Diverse Learning Needs Policy and Student Pastoral Care and Wellbeing Policy.</li></ul><p>The following GENERAL CAPABILITIES are applicable to the role:</p><ul><li>Well-developed oral and written communication skills.</li><li>A commitment to ongoing personal and professional learning formation and growth.</li><li>Competent Information and Communication Technology skills.</li></ul><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p><ul><li>Accredited with NESA to teach in NSW</li><li>Minimum 10 years teaching experience.</li><li>Accredited to Level C in accordance with the To Work, Teach and Lead Policy, or a commitment to gain this level within the first 5 years of employment within CEDoW.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE</strong></p><p>This role is classified as child-related work and therefore a Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to your employment at CEDoW.</p><p><strong>POSITION APPLICATION</strong>&nbsp;</p><p>To confidentially discuss your application, contact Acting Senior Professional Officer, Katie Carroll on 0418 620 219.</p><p>Applicants are to complete an online application and to briefly address the essential criteria (equivalent to 2-3 pages) and submit a short CV (2-3 pages).</p><p>To submit your application please select the 'Apply Now' button at the bottom of this advertisement.</p><p>The Catholic Education Office is an agency of the Catholic Church called to stewardship and service in support of the system of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Wollongong.
