We have 18 Catholic schools in the region - five colleges, seven primary schools, one flexible learning centre and five remote schools.</p><p><strong>The School:</strong></p><p>LACS is a K - 12 school in Ltyentye Apurte / Santa Teresa, a medium-sized Aboriginal Catholic community located 83 KM southeast of Alice Springs. There are 35 staff and an enrolment of approximately 130 students. The school has small class sizes and features specialist facilities including a community library, STEM and home economics rooms. Every classroom has access to the internet and is fitted with PCs, laptops, iPads and interactive whiteboards.  English is the second or third language for most students at the school, and the Arrernte language &amp; culture program is a key focus of the curriculum at LACS.  Teachers work as members of a team in partnership with local Aboriginal people and Arrernte Assistant Teachers. Staff members live in close proximity to each other and the school. The standard of accommodation is very good. Spend your weekends exploring the beautiful MacDonald Ranges, famous for postcard-like scenery, world-class hikes, swimming holes and natural treasures. See black-footed rock wallabies near the permanent waterhole at Simpsons Gap. At noon, watch the walls of Standly Chasm glow bright red. Swim at Ellery Creek Big Hole. Explore Ormiston Gorge, Glen Helen and the Ochre Pits, a sacred site still used by local Aboriginal people. Feel the spirit of the red centre by visiting Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
