Cana Catholic Primary, is seeking applications from candidates who can commit to the strong Catholic mission and educational purpose of our schools.

We own, govern and operate approximately 300 Catholic schools, employ over 16,000 staff and serve more than 114,000 students and their families in the Archdiocese of Melbourne. It is an exciting time to join MACS, where we are transforming to bring to life our recently launched strategic plan: MACS 2030: Forming Lives to Enrich the World.</p><p><strong>YOUR ROLE</strong></p><p>As a Principal, you will be inspired to lead a joy-filled community where students, staff, and families can flourish within a Catholic context. Your leadership will enable the vision of the school to be realised, creating an environment where everyone can reach their full potential. The role of the Principal is one of the most important roles across the MACS system, as their faith and educational leadership enables the vision of the school to be realised. This role will work in collaboration with MACS, staff members, local parish priests and the broader School community to achieve the identified goals of the school. </p><p><strong>ABOUT CANA HILLSIDE</strong></p><p>Cana Catholic School is the third Catholic primary school in the Parish of Sacred Heart / Emmaus where a strong link between the Parish and school is valued and nurtured. As the years have progressed Cana has continued to see growth in a variety of ways from steadily increasing enrolments to extension and building works, Cana has seen many changes.</p><p>The school was established in 2004 with 85 students and 5 teaching staff. In 2023 Cana had an enrollment of 422 students and 18 classes. Specialist areas taught are Prep to Six Language (Italian), Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Library, Health / P.E. and Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics STEM.</p><p>The school is fortunate to have spacious playing areas for students inclusive of shaded playground equipment and two basketball courts. Cana students enjoy three constructed playing areas - Prep -2 have two significant climbing and balance areas with a flying fox; Grade 3 - 6 enjoy a climbing web construction and a Ninja warrior balance and climbing course. The students also enjoy an extensive synthetic grass soccer /football over and running tracks.</p><p>Cana’s school motto 'Do What Jesus Tells You' remains their mission and inspiration.</p><p><strong>ABOUT THE COMMUNITY</strong></p><p>Cana is a faith community of parents, teachers and students who work together to provide a quality Catholic education for all students. The school is a faith filled community of learners who gather to grow in faith and learn together.</p><p>Cana recognises families as their child’s prime educators and values the partnership to foster their child’s faith, education and wellbeing. Cana work collaboratively with the school and wider community to ensure inclusiveness and achieving the mission of praying, working and sharing together.</p><p>MACS is looking for a Principal who will actively engage with the community and grow school enrolments under their leadership.</p><p>*Enrolment numbers are correct at the time of publication.</p><p><strong>KEY SELECTION CRITERIA</strong></p><ul><li>Is an active member in good standing of a Catholic Church community, including Sunday attendance ( inclusive of Saturday vigil).</li><li>Demonstrated unwavering commitment to the safety and wellbeing of students, families, and staff members in schools, in line with current community safety standards and expectations.</li><li>Demonstrated ability in instructional leadership, including determining and implementing evidence-based learning and teaching programs and school curriculum.</li><li>Shows a strong commitment to fostering a workplace that prioritises health, safety and wellbeing for all staff, students, and those we interact with, including parents, carers, visitors, community members, contractors, and clergy.</li><li>Shows a strong commercial focus with proven results in enrolment growth, financial stability, and a commitment to risk mitigation.</li><li>Demonstrated understanding and enactment of the legislative and systemic compliance requirements applicable to all Catholic schools.</li><li>Ability to demonstrate strong faith leadership informed by the Church’s teaching and local mission, and the animation of the school community’s faith journey effectively.</li><li>Proven Senior/Executive leadership experience within schools/education environment.</li><li>Proven ability to effectively manage resources including workplans aligned with strategic outcomes.</li><li>Exceptional interpersonal skills that enable working effectively and building connections with all members of the school, MACS office, parish, broader church, educational system, other schools, and educational authorities.</li><li>Sets high standards for self and others in the leadership of pastoral care and the provision of an engaging education that provides multiple pathways and options for positive outcomes for young people.</li><li>A commitment to innovation and improvement across all aspects of achieving educational outcomes.</li><li>Strong coaching and leadership skills to enable team growth and development that supports continuous learning.</li></ul><p><strong>HOW TO APPLY</strong></p><p>Click <a href="https://cem.elmotalent.com.au/careers/careers/job/view/900" rel="nofollow">APPLY</a> to submit your application.</p><p>If you have any queries about this role, they can be directed to our team by email <a href="mailto:principalappointments@macs.vic.edu.au" rel="nofollow">principalappointments@macs.vic.edu.au</a></p><p>All applicants are required to submit a copy of:</p><ol><li>Certified evidence of Victorian Institute of Teaching registration.</li><li>Certified evidence of tertiary and further education qualifications, including accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school as referred to in your resume.</li><li> Current resume.</li><li>Cover letter addressing the key selection criteria limited to three pages.</li><li>The names and contact details of three referees including the Catholic priest of the parish you attend.
