St Mary’s of the Cross, is seeking an outstanding Catholic education leader to work with a dynamic team and hold a position of trust and influence.
<p><strong>YOUR ROLE</strong></p><p>As a Principal, you will be inspired to lead a joy-filled community where students, staff, and families can flourish within a Catholic context. Your leadership will enable the vision of the school to be realised, creating an environment where everyone can reach their full potential. The role of the Principal is one of the most important roles across the MACS system, as their faith and educational leadership enables the vision of the school to be realised. This role will work in collaboration with MACS, staff members, local Parish Priest, and the broader School community to achieve the identified goals of the School. </p><p><strong>ABOUT ST MARY OF THE CROSS, POINT COOK</strong></p><p>St Mary of the Cross Primary School promotes the values of respect, success, inclusivity, and integrity. Modelled on the servant leadership of Mary Mackillop the school aims to nurture compassionate and respectful students who actively engage in learning and spiritual growth.</p><p>The school provides a comprehensive curriculum supplemented by STEM, Art, PE and LOTE. The improvement focus over the past four years has been in the development of consistent school wide practices in all areas of teaching and learning.</p><p>St Mary of the Cross Primary School has implemented Positive Behaviours for Learning (PB4L) to enhance classroom and playground behaviour management. This is supported by a strong focus on wellbeing for all.</p><p><strong>ABOUT THE COMMUNITY</strong></p><p>St Mary of the Cross is one of five Catholic primary schools in Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Laverton. The school is in the Saltwater Coast Estate at the southern end of Point Cook, in Melbourne's outer western suburbs.</p><p>Built in three stages, the school comprises flexible learning spaces, a community café with a small kitchen garden tended by parents and students and spacious playgrounds. St Mary of the Cross has an active School Advisory Council.</p><p>The Principal leads a team of 22 employees and a student cohort of 327.</p><p>MACS is looking for a Principal who will actively engage with the community and grow school enrolments under their leadership.</p><p>*Enrolment numbers are correct at the time of publication.</p><p><strong>MANDATORY SELECTION CRITERIA</strong></p><ul><li>Is an active member in good standing of a Catholic Church community, including Sunday attendance ( inclusive of Saturday vigil).</li><li>Demonstrated unwavering commitment to the safety and wellbeing of students, families, and staff members in schools, in line with current community safety standards and expectations.</li><li>Demonstrated ability in instructional leadership, including determining and implementing evidence-based learning and teaching programs and school curriculum.</li><li>Shows a strong commitment to fostering a workplace that prioritises health, safety and wellbeing for all staff, students, and those we interact with, including parents, carers, visitors, community members, contractors, and clergy.</li><li>Shows a strong commercial focus with proven results in enrolment growth, financial stability, and a commitment to risk mitigation.</li><li>Demonstrated understanding and enactment of the legislative and systemic compliance requirements applicable to all Catholic schools.</li><li>Ability to demonstrate strong faith leadership informed by the Church’s teaching and local mission, and the animation of the school community’s faith journey effectively.</li><li>Proven Senior/Executive leadership experience within schools/education environment.</li><li>Proven ability to effectively manage resources including workplans aligned with strategic outcomes.</li><li>Exceptional interpersonal skills that enable working effectively and building connections with all members of the school, MACS office, parish, broader church, educational system, other schools, and educational authorities.</li><li>Sets high standards for self and others in the leadership of pastoral care and the provision of an engaging education that provides multiple pathways and options for positive outcomes for young people.</li><li>A commitment to innovation and improvement across all aspects of achieving educational outcomes.</li><li>Strong coaching and leadership skills to enable team growth and development that supports continuous learning.</li></ul><p><strong>HOW TO APPLY</strong></p><p>Click <a href="https://cem.elmotalent.com.au/careers/careers/job/view/888" rel="nofollow">APPLY</a> to submit your application.</p><p>If you have any queries about this role, they can be directed to our team by email <a href="mailto:principalappointments@macs.vic.edu.au" rel="nofollow"><u>principalappointments@macs.vic.edu.au</u></a>.</p><p>All applicants are required to submit a copy of:</p><ol><li>Scanned and certified evidence of Victorian Institute of Teaching registration (including current Criminal Record Check).</li><li>Scanned and certified evidence of tertiary and further education qualifications, including accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school as referred to in your resume.</li><li>Current Resume.</li><li>A cover letter addressing the Mandatory Selection Criteria limited to three pages.</li><li>The names and contact details of three referees including the Catholic Priest of the Parish you attend.
