The Design and Technology Teacher (Food and Textiles) delivers engaging lessons, fostering creativity and technical skills. Responsible for developing and implementing a dynamic curriculum, assessing student progress, and cultivating a learning environment that motivates and prepares students for success in their future endeavors.

Our school services over 2000 students that are supported by our 220 staff members across our two campuses. Our junior campus (Years 7 to 9) is located in Wanniassa and our senior campus (Years 10 to 12) is located a short distance away in Isabella Plains.</p><p><strong>About the Role </strong><br>The Design and Technology Teacher (Food and Textiles) delivers engaging lessons, fostering creativity and technical skills. Responsible for developing and implementing a dynamic curriculum, assessing student progress, and cultivating a learning environment that motivates and prepares students for success in their future endeavors. </p><p><strong>Benefits and Opportunities </strong></p><ul><li>A positive and collaborative workplace culture </li><li>Extensive training in our high-quality professional learning program, Catalyst </li><li>Access to curriculum resources that support evidence-based, high-impact teaching practice </li><li>24 weeks of paid parental leave (maternity/adoption) </li><li>Up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave (paternity/non-initial primary carer leave) </li><li>Support for professional development and study opportunities </li><li>Opportunities to transfer to other schools within the Archdiocese across ACT and NSW to support lifestyle choice </li></ul><p><strong>Key Responsibilities </strong></p><ul><li>Working in a collegial manner with the Curriculum Coordinator, members of the faculty, and with whole staff, to ensure that the College Vision is implemented and practised;</li><li>Involvement in the development of educational policies of the College, especially as they relate to teaching areas;</li><li>The development of programs of study that are contemporary and challenging;</li><li>Ensuring that study programs are based on inclusive principles;</li><li>Ensuring that classroom pedagogy and assessment are of the highest quality and aligned with current practice in teaching and learning;</li><li>Accountability to the Curriculum Coordinator for all aspects relating to the teaching role, including supporting the Coordinator in the promotion of the learning area.</li><li>A willingness to be involved in co-curricular activities: e.g camps, retreats, and sport;</li><li>Responsibility for all aspects of administrative duties that relate to teaching and pastoral duties e.g. keeping class rolls, accurate records, student reports, correspondence etc. </li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications </strong></p><ul><li>Must hold a relevant Working with Children registration and Teaching Accreditation; and</li><li>Must have completed initial Teacher Education (ITE) program</li></ul><p><strong>Selection Criteria </strong></p><ol><li>Be an outstanding teacher of experience and initiative who can work effectively with the curriculum team, colleagues, students and families;</li><li>Demonstrate a deep knowledge of contemporary issues and practices in teaching from Years 7-12;</li><li>Contribute to the development of pedagogy and assessment practices across the curriculum;</li><li>As a classroom leader work effectively with colleagues and their Faculty Coordinator to develop a vision and profile for Design and Technology Teacher (Food and Textiles);</li><li>Support the College to build community with staff, students and their families;</li><li>Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, parents and community members; and</li><li>Promote stewardship of our Vision for a Catholic School in the Josephite tradition.</li></ol><p><i>Please refer to the position description for in-depth details regarding the position duties, criteria, and skill set required. </i></p><p><strong>Other Eligibility Criteria </strong></p><ul><li>You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position. </li><li>Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment in accordance with CECG policy. </li></ul><p><strong>Application Process </strong><br>Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and current resume including a statement of suitability against the skills, attributes, and experience as outlined in the Position Description. </p><p>This position involves working with children.
