Bellfield College is a Kindergarten to Year 12 Independent Co-educational school, in South Western Sydney, educating young Australians in a nurturing and affirming community. <p><strong>About the College</strong></p><p>Bellfield College endeavours to foster the intellectual, spiritual and emotional needs of each student and has adopted a family centered approach toward education and a commitment toward supporting each student and every family in their endeavours to strive to live out the values of the College in an Australian local and global context.</p><p><strong>Purpose of the Role</strong></p><p>The Head of Junior School is responsible for leading the teaching and learning in the Junior School. This involves overseeing programs, assessment, reporting, curriculum compliance and well-being of staff and students. The Head of Junior School works with staff to foster an innovative, collaborative, and student-centred learning environment.</p><p>Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Head of Junior School is an active member of the Executive Leadership Team and, as such, also plays a key role in the development and implementation of various projects of a strategic nature. The Head of Junior School is expected to be a role model with respect to leadership style, management of affairs and professional and positive conduct.</p><p>Commencing in Term 1, 2025 (we would also consider a term 3 or term 4 start for the right candidate) the Head of Junior School works collaboratively within the whole school team to support and assist with the daily management of the College. </p><p><strong>Key Selection Criteria</strong></p><ul><li>Comprehensive experience in building a connected school community and positive culture</li><li>Demonstrated success in a senior leadership position specifically with primary aged students</li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop the Junior School to ensure that the specific needs of primary aged students are central to the practices and policies that are implemented.</li><li>Demonstrated capacity to model and develop a culture of accountability, reflection and individual learning which will underpin improvement for both staff and students</li><li>Understanding and experience in supporting student welfare and pastoral care</li><li>Demonstrated experience in administration, including budgeting, financial acumen, and developing and mapping out processes</li><li>Demonstrated ability to provide feedback to team members about the achievement of goals</li><li>The Ability to promote positive staff morale and a team ethic</li><li>Understanding of and experience with junior school curriculum, programming for all KLA’s and catering for students with diverse learning needs.</li></ul><p><strong>Our ideal Candidate</strong></p><ul><li>A proven track record of teaching Junior School classes</li><li>Innovative and forward-thinking to provide input to strategic planning</li><li>Strong communication skills, which result in well-formed students, staff, and community</li><li>Experience leading and developing staff</li><li>Agile, adaptable, and flexible to innovative and new ideas, approaches, and strategies</li><li>Desirable; demonstrated experience reporting and accountable to Board of Directors</li></ul><p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></p><ul><li>Qualified to teach in NSW schools</li><li>School Leadership experience in a primary school setting</li><li>Experience in timetabling and daily operations</li><li>Excellent ICT skills and willingness to develop ICT skills within a teaching and learning environment related to classroom teaching practices which improve student outcomes</li><li>Supports the ethos and strategic direction of the School</li><li>A current Working with Children clearance.</li><li>A current First Aid and CPR Certificate</li></ul><p><strong>Terms and conditions:</strong></p><ul><li>Permanent, Full Time</li><li>6 Weeks Annual Leave</li></ul><p><strong>Applying</strong></p><p>Applicants for the Head of Junior School are required to complete the following:</p><p>1.
