Mental Fitness Educator - Primary Schools

The Mental Fitness Educator will be responsible for driving Gotcha4Life's Mentally Fit Primary Schools program. This program is an evidence-based, whole-of-school approach to building mental fitness and wellbeing.

Founded by media personality and all-round legend Gus Worland, at Gotcha4Life you'll get to work on high-profile projects that drive impact, with an accomplished and connected team.</p><p> </p><p><strong>ABOUT THE ROLE</strong></p><p>As a Gotcha4Life Mental Fitness Educator, you will be responsible for driving the Mentally Fit Primary Schools program implementation, delivery and impact to a cohort of 10 schools based in Western Sydney. Mentally Fit Primary Schools is Gotcha4Life’s evidence-based, whole-of-school approach to building mental fitness and wellbeing.</p><p>You will work collaboratively with schools to build their wellbeing capacity, inspiring and enabling school communities to adopt a proactive approach to building mental fitness. Partnering with and mentoring schools through the Mentally Fit Primary Schools framework, this role is responsible for delivering evidence-based mental fitness training and resources, and actively building connections between our partner schools and Gotcha4Life.</p><p> </p><p><strong>HOW WE WORK</strong></p><p>The Mental Fitness Educator role is a full-time position, primarily based in Western Sydney and involves face-to-face and virtual delivery in schools. This role reports into the Mentally Fit Primary Schools Lead.</p><p>We have a hybrid approach to work that continues to evolve as we respond to what is best for our team, and the people and communities we serve. Currently, we come together as a team at our Sydney CBD office two days a week to connect and collaborate. On other days, our team works from either our office or from home. As this role is primarily schools-based, weekly visits to our office in The Rocks are not expected.</p><p>We are a small and passionate team, driven by the impact we make in communities. Salary packaging options are also available.</p><p> </p><p><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p><ol><li><i><strong>Program Leadership:</strong></i> Coach and mentor partner schools through the Mentally Fit Primary Schools evidence-based mental fitness and wellbeing program. Implement and lead program components across the whole-of-school community.</li><li><i><strong>Delivery & Facilitation: </strong></i>Deliver and facilitate face-to-face and virtual mental fitness workshops, presentations and training for various audiences, including teachers and staff, students, and parents and carers.</li><li><i><strong>School Partnership Engagement:</strong></i> Foster meaningful relationships with partner schools and key stakeholders and cultivate a deep understanding of each school’s unique context. Provide ongoing support to achieve program outcomes, ensuring sustained engagement.</li><li><i><strong>Evaluation and Impact Reporting:</strong></i> Actively monitor and evaluate a school’s progress, collaborating to address feedback and continuously drive impact. Communicate achievements and stories from schools, providing valuable educational insights.</li><li><i><strong>Increase Engagement: </strong></i>Collaborate closely with the Program Delivery team and the wider Gotcha4Life team to identify opportunities to increase school engagement in Gotcha4Life initiatives. Enhance fundraising efforts, utilise storytelling to showcase impact, and grow reach to other programs.</li><li><i><strong>Operations and Administration:</strong></i> Manage the different stages of the program lifecycle and maintain thorough records of each school.</li></ol><p> </p><p><strong>ABOUT YOU</strong></p><ul><li><i><strong>Experienced Educator:</strong></i> At least 7 years of primary school teaching experience. Relevant qualifications and/or experience in education, counselling, psychology, social work, health promotion, community welfare or similar field preferred. Existing primary school networks in Western Sydney are favourable.</li><li><i><strong>Passion for Mental Fitness: </strong></i>Energy for building mental fitness through innovative, evidence-based initiatives and desire to make an impact in educational settings.</li><li><i><strong>Strong Presentation Skills:</strong></i> Strong capacity to facilitate, speak to small and large groups, or perform to groups, and an ability to connect and communicate to a wide variety of people, particularly teachers or other educators. Familiarity with diverse learning principles and objectives across a holistic ‘whole of settings’ approach and an appreciation of education and health development outcomes and assessment methods.</li><li><i><strong>Communication and Interpersonal Abilities:</strong></i> Outstanding communication skills to enable clear and effective transmissions of ideas, instructions and feedback. Able to convey information in an understandable manner, engage in active listening, and facilitate meaningful discussions.</li><li><i><strong>Cultural Competence and Language Skills:</strong></i> An understanding of and experience working in diverse communities, including but not limited to First Nations, BIPOC, culturally and linguistically diverse people, and LGBTQIA+ people. Proficiency in Mandarin, Arabic, Urdu or Vietnamese is not mandatory, but highly desirable.</li><li><i><strong>Relationship Management: </strong></i>Proven track record of excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship development.
