The position involves a commitment to the school’s philosophy of Powerful Learning, utilising a wide range of student-centred, brain-based learning strategies while also exploring new teaching models to improve the outcomes of students. The successful candidate will join a strong and supportive Leadership Team who are committed to the well-being and growth of staff and students. </p><p><strong>Benefits and Opportunities </strong></p><ul><li>A positive and collaborative workplace culture </li><li>Extensive training in our high-quality professional learning program, Catalyst </li><li>Access to curriculum resources that support evidence-based, high-impact teaching practice </li><li>24 weeks of paid parental leave (maternity/adoption) </li><li>Up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave (paternity/non-initial primary carer leave) </li><li>Support for professional development and study opportunities </li><li>Opportunities to transfer to other schools within the Archdiocese across ACT and NSW to support lifestyle choice </li></ul><p><strong>Key Responsibilities </strong></p><ul><li>Provide an optimal learning environment for students to achieve excellence.</li><li>Cater for a range of individual needs and learning styles.</li><li>As part of a team design, document and deliver courses that engage students in learning and incorporate the Powerful Learning Principles.</li><li>Incorporate new developments in teaching and learning, including brain-based learning.</li><li>Use ICT in the classroom to enhance learning.</li><li>Provide regular ongoing feedback on student coursework via the timely return of marked work along with constructive feedback that allows the students to reflect on what they have achieved and know how they can improve.</li><li>Provide prompt and timely follow-up with parents, students, and staff.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications </strong> </p><ul><li>Must hold an ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) accreditation.</li><li>Must hold an ACT Working with Vulnerable People’s card (WWVP).</li><li>Tertiary educational qualifications in the subject area and willingness to teach in more than one subject area</li></ul><p><u>To teach Religious Education in a Catholic school (to be a Religious Education Teacher), a teacher must:</u></p><ul><li>Be Catholic;</li><li>Provide a reference from a current Parish Priest; and</li><li>Have completed or be due to complete Accreditation D – Teach Religious Education in a Catholic school in accordance with the Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Catholic Education, Canberra and Goulburn Policy.</li></ul><p><strong>Selection Criteria</strong> </p><ol><li>A willingness to lead, with support, the implementation and development of an inquiry approach to the teaching of Religious Education</li><li>An ability to model excellent classroom practices</li><li>An ability to form and maintain good relationships</li><li>An ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.</li><li>An attitude of curiosity about possibilities and initiatives</li><li>A strong commitment to the Catholic Ethos of the school and a demonstrated ability to foster it in the community</li><li>Will be a practicing Catholic who contributes in a significant way to the Catholic life of the school</li></ol><p><i>Please refer to the position description for in-depth details regarding the position duties, criteria, and skill set required. </i></p><p><strong>Other Eligibility Criteria</strong> </p><ul><li>You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position. </li><li>Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment in accordance with CECG policy. </li></ul><p><strong>Application Process </strong></p><p>Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and current resume including a statement of suitability against the skills, attributes, and experience as outlined in the Position Description. </p><p>This position involves working with children.
