St. Michael’s College Caboolture, is seeking passionate and enthusiastic applicants to apply for the position of classroom teacher within our College. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with their teaching team, to provide our students with opportunities and skills that prepare them for successful lifelong learning, in a society undergoing rapid growth and change.

<p>As a classroom teacher, you will be responsible for the explicit teaching of all key learning areas of the Australian Curriculum, to a class of students (Prep-Year 6), at St. Michael’s College. </p><p>This position will commence in January of 2025. Beginning and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply. </p><p><strong>Responsible to:</strong> Principal / Deputy Principal</p><p><strong>Responsibilities/Duties related to the position include, conversations with families, staff and others in the wider community.</li></ul><p><strong>Curriculum Delivery and Teaching Practice</strong></p><ul><li>Plan, prepare and deliver quality and effective teaching and learning programs for Prep - Year 6, that cater for the developmental needs of a wide range of student needs, in line with St. Michael’s College expectations.</li><li>Provide planning and documentation as requested by the Deputy Principal and Principal.</li><li>Participate in collaborative planning opportunities with year level teams and the Deputy Principal.</li><li>Differentiate the curriculum to cater to a range of abilities, disabilities, interests and backgrounds of students.</li><li>Become informed about student learning characteristics and adjustments, through examination of staged intervention documentation.</li><li>Strive for consistency in quality teaching practice.</li><li>Maintain teaching competency and currency of knowledge of relevant curriculum programs as required by St. Michael’s College.</li><li>Embrace the integration of technology as a tool for teaching.</li><li>Utilise and manage technology and teaching/learning resources, to maximise the opportunity for excellent teaching, that engages children in learning and reflects best practice.</li><li>Support students through positive interactions with them in a variety of settings and through the active development of supportive learning environments and effective behaviour management practices.</li><li>Participate in the collaborative development and evaluation of curriculum, and regularly monitor, through observation and evaluation, the effectiveness of the learning/teaching program.</li><li>Apply appropriate classroom management strategies, in order to provide a positive and effective learning environment.</li><li>Relay concerns regarding particular students, in accordance with the College procedures.</li></ul><p><strong>Administration and Reporting</strong></p><ul><li>Report at both informal and formal levels to the Principal and Deputy Principal, regarding students and parents.</li><li>Use outstanding verbal and written methods of communication.</li><li>Acknowledge that both formative and summative assessment and evaluation are important and integral parts of the teaching/learning process and keep up-to-date student records on each student&#39;s learning.</li><li>At reporting times, accurately draft and redraft student reports, within the published time frame, before final submissions to administration.</li><li>Adhere to the timelines highlighted on the SMC Reporting and Assessment Timeline.</li><li>Openly, honestly and appropriately, discuss work issues within the College context, while ensuring strict professional confidentiality when mixing with the general community.</li><li>Remain abreast of current trends through participation in and contribution to professional development activities and relevant professional organisations.</li><li>Perform extra duties as required, e.g. playground duty, relief teaching duties, staff meetings, committee meetings.</li><li>Attend staff meetings, team teaching meetings and nominated College committees.</li><li>Regularly update relevant student records on TASS.</li><li>Distribute pertinent information to relevant staff at the College, based on conversations with students and parents, in a timely manner.</li><li>Report concerns resulting from conversations with students or parents, to appropriate classroom teachers, the Deputy Principal and/or Principal.</li><li>Complete risk assessments and event proposals for events, incursions, excursions and camps, in the required timeframe.</li></ul><p><strong>Pastoral Care</strong></p><ul><li>Nurture Christian values and traditions and educational excellence in all students, inspiring them to reach their full potential as individuals and serving members of the wider community.</li><li>Take responsibility for the pastoral needs of all students.</li><li>Provide a caring and safe environment, supportive of the Christian ethos of St. Michael’s College.</li><li>Act as a member of the College team, developing and supporting the philosophy and ethos of the College.</li><li>Demonstrate care and concern for the spiritual, emotional, social, physical and academic development of students.</li><li>Monitor progress and provide feedback to students, other teaching staff, and parents/caregivers in a manner that is timely and responsive to student and parent needs.</li></ul><p><strong>Compliance</strong></p><ul><li>Perform your duties to the best of your ability and be accountable for your performance.</li><li>Be accountable for providing quality learning to the students of the College.</li><li>Complete all set tasks for planning in the allocated timeframe.</li><li>Follow reasonable instructions given by your supervisor or their delegate.</li><li>Comply with lawful directions.</li><li>Carry out your duties in a professional, competent and conscientious manner, while seeking suitable opportunities to improve your knowledge and skills, including participation in relevant professional development.</li><li>Comply with the code of conduct of St. Michael’s College.</li><li>Dress in appropriate, professional workplace attire and in line with our human resources manual.</li><li>Conducting oneself in accordance with the Queensland College of Teachers and AITSL professional standards.</li></ul><p><strong>General Expectations</strong></p><ul><li>Take an active part in the general life of the College - supporting policies, procedures, aims and objectives, in order to facilitate the day-to-day operation and promote a high quality of education within St. Michael’s College.</li><li>Actively support and uphold the mission, values, beliefs about teaching and learning of the College.</li><li>Work
