The nature of activities may include volunteering activities, excursions, lunchtime activities and parent/carer workshops.&nbsp;School chaplains (Student Welfare Officers) support the wellbeing of students by providing:</p><ul><li>Pastoral care services; and</li><li>Strategies that support the wellbeing of the broader school community</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Certificate IV in Youth Work or Certificate IV in Pastoral Care (or equivalent)</li><li>A person who holds a higher-level qualification, such as a diploma or bachelor’s degree</li><li>ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration</li><li>Chaplains are required to complete a three-hour (during work hours) online professional learning package (PLP) aimed at responding to and preventing cyberbullying.</li></ul><p><strong>Selection Criteria</strong></p><ol><li>A sound understanding of and commitment to the Church’s mission in Catholic education and the capacity to contribute to the spiritual and community life of the school</li><li>Excellent management and organisational skills that create supportive and safe environments, including managing challenging student behaviours and meeting a variety of social and emotional needs.</li><li>An excellent understanding of and ability to implement student support programs</li><li>A willingness to respond creatively to the needs of the school in the social and emotional wellbeing of students.</li><li>A willingness to contribute towards the wider school community, to build and strengthen school’s relationship with parents, parish and community.</li><li>An awareness of initiatives and developments in research pertaining to social and emotional learning, and trauma related behaviours in children.</li></ol><p>&nbsp;<i>Please refer to the role description for an in-depth detail regarding criteria and skill set required.</i></p><p><strong>Other Eligibility Criteria&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.&nbsp;</li><li>Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment in accordance with CECG policy.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Application Process</strong></p><p>Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and current resume including a statement of suitability against the skills, attributes and experience as outlined in the Position Description.</p><p>This position involves working with children.
