We are looking for a person that has knowledge of traditional and non-traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and historical and contemporary issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities.

<p>An exciting opportunity is available at Xavier College for a permanent, part-time <strong>Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Coordinator</strong> to join our College community, commencing 22 July 2024.</p><p>We are looking for a person that has knowledge of traditional and non-traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and historical and contemporary issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities.  The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Coordinator will work with, provide advocacy for and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at Xavier College.</p><p>The <strong>Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Coordinator</strong> will:</p><ul><li>Assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students’ learning, either individually or in groups, under the supervision of a teacher (or delegate) using prepared and structured programs</li><li>Support classroom Teachers and the Inclusive Education Coordinator with identifying learning pathways for indigenous students</li><li>Work with teachers to implement cross-cultural learning experiences through ACARA using contemporary curriculum design and delivery</li><li>Support Teachers/Inclusive Education Coordinator to identify learning pathways for Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander students</li><li>Be responsible for the completion of documentation, including but not limited to; Reconciliation Action Plans and participate in the continual update of student Personalised Plans for Learning (PPLs), in collaboration with the Inclusive Education Coordinator</li><li>Collect, monitor and analyse data, including pastoral care notes on the College’s student management system (SEQTA)</li><li>Work with teachers and the community to establish genuine cultural links between school and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities</li><li>Develop and foster strong and supportive relationships with families of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students</li><li>Liaise with families of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to promote cultural perspectives ensuring Indigenous groups have an appropriate presence amongst decision-making in the College</li><li>Guide practices and procedures to influence a positive, organised, stimulating and safe learning environment for our Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander students.</li></ul><p><strong>The successful candidate will have:</strong></p><ul><li>Demonstrated experience engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander peoples, communities, Indigenous agencies and institutions</li><li>An understanding of contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people</li><li>Knowledge of the NQF and NQS requirements and all relevant regulations and statutory requirements</li></ul>
