The College is located within a dynamic educational precinct in North Parramatta.&nbsp;<br><br><br><strong>The opportunity&nbsp;</strong><br><br>Our Lady of Mercy College is seeking an experienced, dedicated, and knowledgeable Archivist to safeguard the integrity and accessibility of records, ensuring that they remain a valuable resource for current and future users. This role is crucial not only in preserving the historical heritage of the College but also the appraisal, selection and disposal of the College's records. This is a part time role; hours and days can be negotiated.<br><br><br><br><br><strong>What will you do?</strong><br><br>As Archivist, you will undertake duties as directed by the Director of Advancement, these include but aren't limited to:<br><br><br>&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Responsibility for developing, maintaining and implementing archive policies and procedures necessary to support the College Archive and governance documentation ensuring that the College fulfils its record-keeping obligations according to legislative requirements and protect its business interests.</li><li>Responsibility for making informed decisions in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements regarding the creation, capture and retention or destruction of records in consultation with the Director of Advancement and approved by the Principal.</li><li>Responsibility for accessioning, arranging and describing all material accepted into the College Archive.</li><li>Providing consultation with regard to day-to-day and long-term management of records, especially in the areas of administration and governance.</li><li>Providing preservation and conservation by establishing safe and secure repository with appropriate storage and environmental conditions.</li><li>Training staff in records management and archive principles for best practices.</li><li>Encouraging and supporting the value of College history within the College curriculum.</li><li>Providing research services to staff, alumnae and extended community.</li><li>Maintaining and developing archival College displays and providing archival material for significant reunions and anniversaries.</li><li>Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Principal.</li></ul><p><br><strong>What are we looking for?</strong><br><br><br>&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Post-secondary qualifications in the management of archives, records management or a similar field or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience, preferably in an independent school.</li><li>A Professional Member of the Australian Society of Archivists or be willing to become a member.</li><li>Demonstrated thorough understanding of best practice in archives and records management procedures.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills in both verbal and communication skills with the ability to deal with a variety of stakeholders.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively within a diverse team.</li><li>Demonstrated high level of integrity and discretion in accordance with the Australian Society of Archivists Code of Ethics.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of preservation and conservation principles.</li><li>Demonstrated high attention to detail including excellent time management and project management skills</li><li>Experience in maintaining computer records through an archival platform (such as SDS Archive Virtual).</li><li>Current WWCC.</li></ul><p><br><strong>Why work at OLMC?</strong><br><br>&nbsp;</p><ul><li>The College pays for staff parking in Parramatta Leagues Club (one block away)</li><li>You are in walking distance of coffee, food and retail shops</li><li>Morning tea is provided every day, with regular whole-staff events</li></ul><p><br><br><br><strong>Important information</strong><br><br>&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Applications should be addressed to Ms Lucie Farrugia, Principal</li><li>Rigorous pre-employment screening will be conducted for preferred candidates including the requirement to hold a current WWCC</li><li>Interviews may proceed as applications are submitted.</li></ul><p><br><br>&nbsp;</p>
