The psychologist at St George Preca Primary School provides services to students from Prep to Year 6. They are part of a Learning Diversity Team and work closely with school leaders. The psychologist supports the school and teachers in identifying and developing educational, social and emotional programs providing prevention, intervention and post-intervention strategies.

<p><strong>Key Selection Criteria</strong></p><p>1.      Experience in the development and implementation of evidence-based interventions for children with developmental disorders (e.g. IDD, ASD, ADHD etc) and other mental health concerns (anxiety, behavioural difficulties)  to address their social, emotional and educational needs within a school-based context.</p><p>2.      Experience with conducting psychological assessments and writing comprehensive reports for assessments including the WISC-V, WPPSI-IV and WIAT-III among other commonly used assessments for the diagnosis of developmental or academic disorders. </p><p>3.      Demonstrated well-developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary professional team.</p><p>4.      Ability to deliver a comprehensive psychology service to a school, including short-term counselling, cognitive and other assessments, referral to external services, and liaising with external therapists. </p><p>5.      Capacity to apply highly developed assessment, conceptual and analytical skills.</p><p>6.      Capacity to deliver recommendations around best practice interventions for students with a diagnosis of ASD, ID, anxiety, and other additional needs.</p><p>7.      Experience with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and a general understanding of the aetiology of anxiety and depressive disorders. </p><p>8.       Understanding of child developmental milestones and age-based developmental expectations. </p><p><strong>Role</strong></p><ul><li>Provide psychology services to a Prep to Year 6 mainstream school.</li><li>Support the school and teachers in the identification and development of educational, social and emotional programs providing prevention, intervention and post-intervention strategies, particularly in respect to students who are vulnerable, or have additional needs.</li><li>Support teaching staff in goal setting to inform interventions and management plans such as Behaviour Support Plans and Behaviour Response Plans and Personalised Learning Plans.</li><li>Design and implement individualised treatment plans, liaising with the student&#39;s care team (such as teachers, team leaders, allied health staff and families) around the assessment feedback, intervention strategies and progress.</li><li>Design, deliver or broker professional learning, preferably for teachers and other relevant professionals, in student engagement and wellbeing issues relevant to our students&#39; needs.</li><li>Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team with a speech pathologist and occupational therapist, providing expert knowledge within the discipline of psychology.</li><li>Provide psychology consultations to teachers, team leaders and other school staff around mental health and wellbeing issues related to developmental disorders and other identified additional needs.</li><li>Liaise with external services such as community service organisations, DHHS, hospitals and other professionals regarding student needs.</li><li>Participate in professional development and supervision as required for your registration.</li><li>Work hours .6 FTE (3 days per week)</li></ul><p><strong>Who may apply</strong></p><p>Mandatory Qualifications</p><p>Post Graduate qualifications in psychology (Honours/Graduate Diploma and Masters - with attached specialty or 5&#43;1) and full registration (or provisional registration with access to own supervisor) as a Psychologist with the Australian Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA) - Psychology Board. Please provide AHPRA Registration Number on your CV. </p><p>Note that it is a legal requirement for a psychologist to be registered with APHRA and the practice of Psychology cannot be performed without such registration being confirmed. </p><p><strong>Please provide a copy of a deidentified report of a past cognitive assessment.</strong></p><p>Please ensure you address the key selection criteria and provide your resume with a cover letter.
