St Mary's College is seeking a Wellbeing/Youth Worker to join our team in supporting engagement at school and the general wellbeing of our hearing impaired secondary students at our Dandenong campus located within St John's Regional College .

<p><b>Key Responsibilities </b></p><ul><li>Facilitate or organise small groups and activities for students around aspects of challenge such as identity, anxiety and social interaction.</li><li>Contribute to improving student attendance, engagement and connectedness.</li><li>Provide pastoral care, support and guidance to students with a hearing loss implement strategies to overcome difficulties.</li><li>Support students to develop positive behaviours and thoughts as part of the College Positive Behaviours for Learning practice.</li><li>Provide students with referrals to external specialist services as required.</li></ul><p><b>Selection Criteria </b></p><ol><li>Experience in supporting a range of student wellbeing needs, particularly those who are deaf or have a disability.</li><li>Capacity to work within a team and an ability to liaise with outside agencies.</li><li>Experience in providing services to improve student engagement and connectedness.</li><li>An ability to provide wellbeing support and specific programs both within and outside of classroom environments.</li><li>Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.</li><li>A capacity to work closely with key staff members whilst adhering to College guidelines and school-based procedures.</li></ol><p><b>Commitment to Child Safety </b></p><p>The successful applicant will: </p><ul><li>Be familiar with and comply with the school&#39;s child-safe policy and code of conduct, and any other policies or procedures relating to child safety.</li><li>Assist in the provision of a child-safe environment for students.</li></ul><p><b>Qualification and Requirements </b></p><p>Applicants must hold a Certificate IV equivalent or higher qualifications that includes competencies in; </p><ul><li>mental health and making appropriate referrals and</li><li>providing pastoral care or working with youth</li></ul><p>This includes Diplomas and Certificates in Counselling or Youth Work. </p><p>An understanding or knowledge of deaf or hard of hearing students would be an advantage.<i> Ability to communicate in Auslan is <b>not </b>required.</i></p><p>Applicants must hold or be willing to acquire a Working with Children Check card and must be willing to undergo a National Police Record Check. </p><p><b>Position Conditions </b></p><p><b>Position Location:</b> Dandenong Campus </p><p><b>Position Type</b>: Contract 3 years </p><p><b>Work Hours</b>: Part time 10-20 hours per week neg. </p><p><b>Classification:</b> ES Range 3 Cat B </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
