Commencing in readiness for Term 3, 2024 (or by negotiation with the successful applicant), submissions are warmly invited for the position of Principal – St. Johns College, Dubbo. As Principal, you will promote the vision and mission of the Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst through Religious, Educational and Enabling Leadership.

The College was established in 1969 as a result of the amalgamation of De LaSalle Boy&#39;s College (1936) and St Patrick&#39;s College for Girls (1880s). </p><p>In a rural environment on 40 hectares less than 5km from Dubbo CBD and with enrolments of over 900, the College is one of 33 schools in the Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst who are on a significant journey of improvement, guided by the research on high performing schools and the systems they comprise. </p><p>Led by the Principal, they continue to embed a high-performance culture with an unwavering focus on strong leadership, equity and sustainability, with the ultimate goal of high levels of learning for all in a rapidly changing world.</p><p><br /></p><p> </p><p><b>The Region</b></p><p> </p><p>Dubbo is located 5 hours west of Sydney and, with a population of 40,000, is one of the largest inland cities in NSW. This tight-knit community fosters a sense of belonging and support amongst its residents. </p><p>Famous for the Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Dubbo is undergoing significant investment as part of “Destination Dubbo: International Ready” to transform the city into the number one inland destination centre in Australia for domestic and international visitors. </p><p>Known for hosting events which showcase agriculture and local talents, as well as festivals that bring the community together in celebration. </p><p>A vibrant sports culture supported with a wide range of sporting facilities and clubs that have produced international Cricket Legends, Soccer Superstars &amp; Rugby League Greats. </p><p>Boasting a dynamic arts &amp; culture scene with local galleries, theatres and creative spaces that showcase local arts. </p><p>With a regional airport, Dubbo provides access to multiple daily flights to Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>Position Overview </b></p><p>The Catholic school principal serves as a Christ-centred leader who models the principles of our Quality Catholic Education framework. The principal leads across the school community to form the school as a centre of faith, inclusion and missionary discipleship. They nurture and enhance the school as a professional learning community that is committed to high levels of learning for all. The Principal has responsibility for supporting and monitoring the learning and growth of committed teachers and setting high standards for students and staff performance, enabling all to make a positive contribution to the world. </p><p>As the Principal Leader of the school, the Principal promotes the vision and mission of Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst through Religious, Educational and Enabling Leadership. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>Key Selection Criteria: </b></p><ul><li>A career in secondary school education, with recent developed experience at Assistant Principal or Principal level </li><li>Personal commitment to the teachings and practice of the Catholic Faith and able to lead a school as a faith filled Catholic community </li><li>A comprehensive understanding of contemporary educational issues and thinking and capable of driving teaching and learning that caters for the diverse range of students </li><li>A demonstrated ability to lead teacher performance in a standards environment, to coach and mentor staff and to build capacity </li><li>Is accredited, or qualified to be accredited, for Senior Leadership in a Catholic Schools (Category E), CEDB Accreditation Policy to Work, Teach and Lead in Systemic Catholic School </li></ul><p><br /></p><p><b>Commencement </b></p><p>Commencement will be for Term 3, 2024, however a start date is negotiable for the successful applicant. </p><p>The initial Principal appointment is for 3 years.
