<p>About the role</p>
<p>The Instructional Specialist role is a 0.6FTE classroom teacher in a school performing at the level of an exemplary classroom practitioner and is 0.4FTE working within the school to model classroom practitioner excellence, to improve learning outcomes and bring about change in the instruction of teachers K-12. The Instructional Specialist is a member of the school senior leadership team.</p>
<p>The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate:</p>
<p>strong teaching capability proven through meeting all aspects of the proficient teacher in the Australian Professional Standards and operating at the level of a highly accomplished/lead teacher in accordance with the NESA teaching standards (although they may not formally hold this accreditation)</p>
<p>exemplary classroom teaching practice in their own classroom teaching</p>
<p>capacity to set standards, build teacher capacity (with extra focus on early career teachers) and support school wide improvement</p>
<p>high impact teaching strategies (HITS) used by teachers to craft lessons that provide the right amount of support and challenge for every student</p>
<p>understanding and implementing high quality, evidence-based instruction that meets students' needs within their zone of proximal learning development and has clear SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-based) goals</p>
<p>ability to coach, mentor and model excellent teaching practice to peer teachers within the school in the instruction</p>
<p>ability to analyse data and trends within the school to identify areas for growth</p>
<p>strong capabilities to lead adult learning (including emotional intelligence)</p>
<p>ability to develop future Instructional Specialists</p>
<p>ability to promote and implement Sydney Catholic Schools mission and vision To know and love Christ through learning and Thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning</p>
<p>ability to promote and abiding by Sydney Catholic Schools values of empathy, curiosity, excellence, collaboration and truth</p>
<p>capacity to perform any other duties as directed from time to time.</p>
<p>You will have attained:</p>
<p>a Tertiary qualification in Education</p>
<p>minimum 5 years of teaching experience in a school</p>
<p>experienced in leading staff in professional learning</p>
<p>demonstrated success improving student outcomes</p>
<p>demonstrated success in implementing school wide initiatives</p>
<p>experienced in using data analysis to inform educational initiatives</p>
<p>ability to articulate contemporary educational trends in both local and international contexts</p>
<p>high order written, oral and presentation skills</p>
<p>willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of Sydney Catholic Schools.</p>
