The Catholic Schools Office (CSO) is responsible for the leadership, operation and management of systemic schools which educate more than 21,000 students in 44 primary schools, 11 secondary schools, one K–12 school, one flexible learning centre and one special school in the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.

The Education Officer – Gifted Education aims to:
<br>
<li>Oversee the development and implementation of high potential gifted education programs and provisions across the diocese. <br></li>
<li>Establish policies and procedures in support of high potential gifted education.<br></li>
<li>Implement initiatives and recommendations. <br></li>
<li>Disseminate information and facilitate professional learning for teachers and leaders to ensure high potential gifted education is embedded in curriculum delivery across the diocese.<br></li>
<li>Advocate for high potential gifted education students according to evidence-based practice.<br></li>
<li>Work with the Assistant Head of Learning and Wellbeing, Leader of School Learning and Wellbeing and other Education Officers, in addressing the needs of high potential gifted education in the diocese.<br></li>
