St Francis Xavier's College Hamilton is seeking a temporary full-time&nbsp;Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Teacher to join the team in 2024 for Terms 1-2. <br> <br> St Francis Xavier's College, Hamilton, is a comprehensive, co-educational college catering to vibrant young adults across Years 11 and 12 (Stage 6) with the introduction of Year 7 (Stage 4) commencing in 2024. <br> We are committed to creating a contemporary space that caters to the diversity of its students. <br> Teachers are focused on offering a holistic approach to education acknowledging the mind, body and spirit of students and the importance of each in their development of personal and social responsibility.&nbsp;&nbsp; <br> <br> The teaching community at St Francis Xavier’s College upholds the responsibility of shaping and encouraging young minds through a shared vision of high quality education, hands-on experiences and fruitful learning for all students. <br> Each member of the teaching staff brings with them skills and expertise in their delivery of Stage 6 courses and the requirements of the Higher School Certificate and an understanding of the new Stage 4 curriculum, while also modelling faith in action by nurturing positive relationships between one another. <br> <br> As part of the current diocesan vision for secondary schooling, St Francis Xavier's College will be transitioning to become a 7-12 co-educational school by 2027. <br> <br><a href="https://diocesemn.azurewebsites.net/media/5952/position_description_-_cso_-_aboriginal_and_torres_strait_islander_education_teacher.pdf" target="_blank"><strong><br><br><head3> <b>POSITION DESCRIPTION</b> </head3></strong></a> <br> <br> The role of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Education Teacher is to focus on support for students and school communities in the areas of curriculum, culture, spirituality, learning and wellbeing. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Education Teacher shares responsibility with all staff for the Catholic identity and mission of the school. Promoting the intent of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle’s Reconciliation Action Plan – Reflect, liaising with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within the school will be essential to the realisation of these objectives. <br> <br> The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Education Teacher will be specifically involved with the formation and implementation of Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, which are targeted at improving educational outcomes and supporting educational pathways, both within and <br> beyond the school setting. <br> <br> The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Education Teacher is responsible to the school Principal and liaises closely with classroom teachers, curriculum teams, wellbeing teams, ministry teams and Learning Support teams. At the discretion of the Principal, duties may be varied according to the needs of the school.
